New Hotmail filters most spam

The new hotmail (due shortly, they are promoting it) will now only show messages from people on your contact list as your "new mail". everything else will be in some sort of inside folder, with a one button "dump".

Basically, if you make you living mailing to hotmail users, you might want to start asking them to make you part of their contact lists, or you will be lost in the spam.

Also, they are adding additional Yahoo style "report spam" systems that will allow them to start marking stuff off as spam. Again, this means that if enough people mark you newsletter / ezine / whatever as spam, it will likely get filtered, even if users have requested your contact and information.

Just another twist in the story, I guess.
