Findpics: Minor rule change

Due to some pretty stunning abuses of linked text, starting with all sites in the current review pile and moving forward, findpics will have the following rule:

"You may not have more than 3 lines of text linked to a sponsor, based on a line of text the same size as a standard banner (468 wide). If you use smaller fonts or other, that limit would drop to 2 lines (or possibly 1 line if the text is small enough). You can use as much text as you like, but please only link PART of it, not all of it."

Basically, I am seeing more and more sites submitted with 10 - 30(!) lines of text all linked, with mouseover actions and all. It's ugly, it's overdoing it, and it increases the chances that a surfer will accidentally click on a link.

Please be reasonable.

thanks

Alex

I completely agree. I think a maximum of 3 lines should be the standard for each text link. No more of this paragraph-long links with rollovers garbage. Not only is it ugly and unnecessary, but will probably get your site flagged by SE's.

i agree as well, thats rediculous to link that many lines. sometimes i will have 20 lines of text, and only have 2-3 words linked. i personally am for the "get on the surfers good side and get him to trust you" as opposed to the "trick the surfer time and time again so he comes to hate porn and end up looking at fusker to avoid your crappy advertising skillz" route

Ya, this has been happening so much lately. Not only a paragraph but two or more at times. Some gallery pages full of paragraphs of linked text. Dont see how this would help surfers click. And looks so bad. ...delete.

Yes I've seen a few like that lately and I think it looks crap.

In the end it isn't really a new rule, but a clarification of the standard 'if I don't like it I won't list it' thing. There is no reason to link that much text, the SEs HATE it, so why do it?

I don't have a too much text rule but I do have a no ugly sites rule so I do decline when someone throws up a big block of underlined ugly text. I also have a no blind links rule so if a big chunk of the page is linked with non underlined text then it would also get declined.
