How many of you have "day" jobs also?

Was curious as to how many people have jobs other than the porn business.

Currently I work 40 hrs per week at my job I hate and I hope to quit and make my living doing this. I've even considered quiting my day job to concentrate all my efforts on my adult business. How many of you have taken the plunge and said fuck your job you hate to try and make it in the adult biz?

I dont really work at all.

I'm pretty much disabled but instead of drawing a check I make my sites.

I dont work really hard at that.

In fact you could probably say I live a bit of a kings life. If my health was better I'd certainly love it. The price for that is pretty shitty tho :/

but hey ya know as long as we're all having a good time that's all that matters in life.

I have no wife no real family and i'm used to a somewhat meager life so I dont have a lot of drive.

If i had someone else to take care of I'd work a fuckload harder for sure.

Wow... it's always weird to me to see my very own thoughts posted with someone else's name! LOL

I'm in the same boat... job I hate, love porn, not making enough $$ yet to bail on the former and live on the latter... and ridiculously envious of those who have had the cojones to take the plunge

Wenchy I know what you mean! I'm not operating at a profit yet so its really hard to say fuck the job and do this fulltime. Problem is, I think If I only had this business to run, I would be making money, it's the time thing that's killing me. I actually may take a different position at work so I can work on my sites while getting paid by my company, considering I'll be doing nothing at work. Just have to sell my desktop and get a laptop.

I work fulltime as a webmaster for a decent sized company (which gives me basically all day to work on my own stuff) and also have a mainstream webdesign business. I make enough that I could quit my "dayjob", but it's hard to give up free medical and dental isurance, 401k, and the other benefits that you never really think of.

Lately my day job has been working on my bike's new home. It now has electric, insulation and my step son will be sheetrocking today.

We had a landscaper come to look at our tiny yard and was given the price of over $6k. So, my next day job will be helping my wife plant flowers.

before you take the plunge, in my opinion and i always have one, you have to make sure that you are able to replace the 40 hour $$ and that it covers your bills.

I'd say if you are making in adult 75% of what you make 9-5 you can probably safely make the transistion, since the other 25% would be your savings from transportation, clothing, lunch etc..

having multiple streams of revenue so that if one goes bad, you have replacement. Nothing is secure anymore.. look at the scramble with the 2257s.

If you have the time it's best to stay parttime until your income is at a good level. Of course that all depends on what your current income is and what your needs are for money to survive.

Going full time should give you more time to build every single day and that will result in one more sale a day or more than you have now. In theory!!! Take a look at what it is you do right now and if you did more of it what your results would be based on your current results.

I have a few day jobs that i hop back and forth from. In the summer I fight forest fires here in BC. Fire season is starting soon. I do some odd contract forestry work here and there. Used to do this full time but got tired of it and did not like the direction that a career as a professional forester was going to take me. So I have been slowly phasing it out. Still addicted to the Fire Fighting though.

I also do contract interior painting. Its kinda grunt labour, but i do sort of enjoy it. I got a good eye for color and a very steady hand (never use masking tape) and am able to cater to mainly higher end home owners.

In the winters after making a bunch of money fire fighting i do some day trading in the stock markets online. Except this past winter, did not make enough extra cash last year and after tripling my capital the winter before I ended up loosing it all within a two month period. ouch!! Stay away from OTCBB pennie stocks, most of them are a scam. Will be getting back into the markets this coming winter though.

I was pushed into porn not long after 9/11. Losing my job had nothing to do 9/11, but I don't recall which year that was and I just remember being on strike during that time. It may have been the following year when I started playing with my first site. I don't know. My memory is shit. I've had a couple of short-lived jobs since then, but my preference is sitting on my ever-expanding buttocks and slowly filtering pornographic materials. I'm fortunate enough to have a very patient and understanding wife with a good income. Otherwise I'd be in big trouble.

I ended up doing this full time for about 9 months last year when the company I worked for went out of business. It was the first time I'd ever been without a job since I was 15.

It was nice for awhile because of us moving to Florida & then there was a lot of family stuff going on. After we were done with the hurricanes, I went absolutely stir crazy.

I use to think that it would be cool to work this full time like Torn, there is no way. I can't stand it. I need to get out. I need to work out side of the house, with other peoples. The health insurance & benefits are also huge plus.

I do this full time but have a good friend who occasionally needs a hand with his work, so now and then I'll disappear for a few days and help him out. Only manual type stuff, patios, driveways, etc but it does get me out of the house, and keeps me somewhat fit. Well, fitter than I would be lol.

I haven't worked for another person since October of 2000. It would be very, VERY difficult for me to go back to that. Even when I was working for other people, it was for very cool people who knew that I do not have the ability to stick to that thing called a "schedule", and that I would always be very, very late, and that I could accomplish more in the few hours I actually put in in a day than most people would in a week.

I'd be pretty much screwed if I had to get a "real" job now. Even if this 2257 thing means I have to give up adult, I will find a way to make it in mainstream. I ain't rich - not even close - but I'm motivated!

I had a career in dentistry for 13 years. I worked adult part time for the last 2 years of it and then things changed. I fell in love, moved to Montreal to live with him, and went into adult full time. It was one hell of an adjustment. It took a bit for me to get into a new routine of not leaving the house for work every day. I moved to Montreal in the beginning of one winter, so when the winter really kicked in, I was relieved to not have to go anywhere. LOL!

Discipline is a big thing. Develop a routine and stick to it. Remember to schedule time in for yourself and family, but stick to a schedule/routine.

I wouldn't go back to working in the real world full time or developing a new career. Adult is now my new career. Working from home full time was the best decision I ever made. I loved my career in dentistry, but I was reaching burn out. I have friends that I socialize with. Going out with friends, grocery shopping or shopping in general, is enough of interaction with people in the real world that I need.

I graduated in 1983 with a BS in Comp Sci and spent the next 15 years in retail sales/management. (that's a whole 'nother story) I left that dead end career in 1998 to work full time with two friends handling the in-house web design for our own adult web hosting company. We ended up selling that business to a non-adult conglomerate who wanted our streaming video infrastructure.

I then took a hiatus from the adult side of the business while taking care of some family obligations (mother & grandmother in poor health).

I got back into the biz about 2 years ago, lots of changes! Some of what I knew was still useful, and the programming background is handy, but I pretty much started over from scratch.

I work twice the hours I did while in retail, but when it's for yourself it doesn't seem to matter.

That's so funny. I did 1 year of BS in Comp Sci before switching to BComm with Data Processing as my major but I too worked Retail Management for 8 years before going full time in this biz. Never worked in the computer field even one day

I lost a network engineers position in Manhattan 6 months after 9/11 and have been in retail management since (another story there) but am fortunate that I can make my schedule to suite me so I can spend quite a bit of time working my porn biz.
I am hoping to be totally doing this within 2 years but agree with DocHolly. I make a lot of money at the retail job, and computer consulting and porn are about half right now. So I'm still plugging along.

I am trained as an accountant but I stay at home and look after the kiddies while wifey goes to work. I decided to go back to school and take web programming and I am just finishing up a diploma in that. I do non-adult web design and programming when I can get it.

That's my story and I am sticking to it.
