I agree that most people won't use much bandwidth and also it is to get people started with them. Next thing they do is grab more hosting.

I personally wouldn't prepay for anything for a year. Though $120 is nothing these days really.

I've had a Dreamhost acct for about a year and was going to cancel it when I got my dedicated server, but when they out of the blue bumped my BW up from 250 gig to 1.6 TB/month I thought what the hell, you really can't beat that for 20 bucks.

For static HTML, pics and movies, it's not bad at all (just check out any of the freesites in my sig on the Desktopwanker doman). Both my blogs are hosted with them, and at times they load really slow, so I wouldn't put anything critical there that was dynamic or had DBs. Also their support is pretty hit and miss and can be really slow as well.
