Olypmian medal winner revealed as toolbar scumware king

Speaking of getting the FSC to go after spammers and the toolbar crowd for us...

http://spamkings.oreilly.com/archive...guls_gold.html

"...the way he richly supported himself while training was incredibly unsportsmanlike and probably illegal: Begg-Smith was a key player in a company that infected other peoples' computers with adware a.k.a. spyware.

Canadian-born Begg-Smith reportedly is president of AdsCPM Network (a.k.a. CPM Media Inc.), a firm notorious for using "driveby downloads," security exploits, and other cheap tricks to install spyware (including keyloggers and browser hijackers) on unsuspecting Internet users' computers. "

"AdsCPM.com is currently offline, but an archived version of the site says the company served up 20 million pop-ups per day. Other sites hosted at the same IP address indicate the reach of the company's spyware enterprise. They include two sites infamous for distributing spyware ---FREESCRATCHANDWIN.COM and XZOOMY.COM, as well as one selling pop-up blocking software, kill-pop-ups.com."

The more I think of it, the more I think a co-ordinated political attack on bulkers spammers and installers would be damn sweet.

Exactly. It's not just the people installing the crap or making pop-ups, it's the companies that pay for sales or ads off the crap.

I think they should make him try out for the summer Olympics in both Judo and Boxing.

Who knows, now that he's been uncovered maybe someone will sue his ass, take his lamborghini, and if he scumwared in certain states at certain times maybe he'll spend some time in prison.

One can only hope.

But, if we can do anything to direct the politician's desire to find a scapegoat away from we mom-and-pop porners onto the email spammers and toolbar installers, everybody wins.

The politicians look like heroes for doing something about the biggest annoyance of our time, we make more money, only the creepy sponsors who suck up that stolen/hijacked toolbar cash suffer.

Bill, you would first have to prove that the toolbars were illegal. That by itself could be a very, very long process indeed. The question would be when he did it versus the rules that were in place when it happened, etc.

Unfortunately, no one is going to give a shit...

No doubt he's got his ass covered quite well ... who wouldn't if they knew they were going to be in the limelight (except for maybe Michael Jackson)..

Well, one never knows, it depends on wether this particular case catches the mainstream media's attention.

If it don't, sure, he's laughing all the way to the bank. He probably infected lots of people we know.

He never got me, tho, I surf at high security and so far laugh at toolbar installers.

But it seems to me he might make a nice poster boy for an anti-toolbar campaign by the FSC or some other adult industry political action group. We know his name, we know his site names.

Begg-Smith, the king of scumware.
