Link List Question?

How do you guys trade with each other....i see many link list have several links to other link list on their main pages. Do you just add peoples link list pages....or do you ask them first???

sorry if it sounds like a dumb question...just thought i would ask..

I use a traffic script and webmasters can add themselves in. It basically serves as a top list using cookies to track traffic.

Other sites use other kinds of scripts like ones that look at server stats and build lists from that.

Still others do "hard link" trades where two sites just agree to display each other's links.

Look around on site's webmaster's page for traffic trades or try posting here asking for trades.

thanks Cleo, I use traffic trade scripts on my tgps but i wasnt sure if they use them on link list....

im making a small link list and wanted to get an idea what do do ..

Hey Baxter, Nice meeting you.

I love doing hardlinks on the index page and submit pages for webmasters. These trades are not for traffic but some traffic wil inevitabley come with it.

Sometimes i just put the link on the site and then email the ll owner or make a post i the trafiic fourm. But others, including myself prefer you use a special syntax for my link. Just to make it more se friendly.

(this is the edit, thanks DD) The above does not apply to the established linklists. As DD says below doing trades with all who request them would be impossible.

Google is temp. gone insane so all seo is up in the air. And im in a holding pattern over my sites waiting for the w0rd so i can land.

If ya have any questions please post them or goto the GG&J's Chat room. There is alot og good ppl there willing to help

A well written email explaining/describing the link exchange you would like.. is a good start.

Remembering that some lists.. my own included.. get requests every day, and many or most exchanges can simply not be done.

A good place to start is to submit your list to the "More lInks" categories of existing link lists.

To elaborate a bit more on DD's mention of submitting to "More Links" or "Link Sites" categories - most link lists offer a space for a comment. Try formatting a short but sweet line or two letting the reviewers know that you are looking for more in-depth link trades than just a category trade.

You guys rock around here, ill have to do some more looking around....im working on a link list and just want to get some good hard coded links on the main index page.....not sure if i want to have a trades script on the link list it self ....but then again im not quite sure if you do on link lists or not....im kinda going in "blind" as they say with this link list project...but thanks for the great posts...one can learn alot from the gurus on here

Got the design done now just putting it all together...what do you suggest for filling in untill i get submitters??

i see some people have hosted ones... but not sure what is the best way to go...

If you have never used mirc before there are some short tutorials on its basic functions.
