Shameless Self Promotion of a new idea

OK – on the last radio show Greenguy’s said it’s cool for regular contributors to the board can make announcements. I hope I make the cut -- lol.

Since, November 2001, when I started Jays XXX Links it has become a very popular. Jays has grown from a mere 5,000 visitors a day, around this time last year, to an average 65,000-80,000 visitors a day now. I do not use traffic trading scripts or blind linking – it’s 99% SE traffic and bookmarks. I have decided to take what I have learned and start a second linklist, this time it will list exclusively movie and video content.

(Yeah, I know – it looks just looks my other site – this is a combination of smart branding, sheer laziness, shameless duplication of success, and lack of graphic design skill. I am still tweaking the site, so withhold any final judgment.)

I figure with more and more people going to broadband and DSL connections, an all movie linklist is the next logical step.

I have populated it with a bunch of stuff to get it started. I am now accepting submissions. All submissions that are approved will be given a listing for a full year, as opposed to the 180 day standard listings. Remember, this is not a TGP nor is it a site that links pictures – this is a linklist for movies. I also would like to see my recips listed with the recips of the other big linklists – call me stuck up, but that the way I want it. As many of you know, I concentrate on search engine traffic, so having your sites listed here is a great way for you to get spidered, and eventually get a few of your own SE hits. I’m also going to be running a lot of my own traffic through.

Sounds good, Jay. I'm finally getting it thru my thick skull that the future is in video and am making plans toward that. Thus I'm looking for sites like yours to get listed. I do have a couple questions, since this is fairly new to me. (Six years doing pic galleries may not mean jack when you start doing video sites.)

- will you list sites hosted by a sponsor? Not sponsor hosted galleries, there is a difference. I mean sites built by me and hosted on an adultboucerhost server, for example. They are just as clean and stable as paid hosting.

- any chance you'll be changing your 10 video minimum? I mostly do 3 videos to a gallery, each vid apx 1.2 mb. So even if I lump 3 together into a site, that's still 1 video short of your minimum. Yet it's 10.8 mb of video, which seems pretty good to me.

I, like many webmasters here, have had a lot of problems with free hosts. Adultbouncer is on my blacklist right now at Jays. One thing that sucks about them is you can be a perfectly honest webmaster and the freehost can do something shady and you both wind up blacklisted. Bandwidth is cheap, even for movies, it's not this issue it used to be.

For the second question, seeing as I need some submits, I can bend a little just to get some things going. I don't think it is much asking for 10 videos. There are movie TGPs that ask for that many.

There are 2 types of sites that accept movies. Most of the regular TGPs want 4-6 movies to get listed. But the MGPs and many of the Pornstar TGPs will let you get away with 1-3 movies as long as they are over 1Mb and about one minute total.

Thanks, Ramster, I think you put the finger on my problem. I'm still thinking too much tgp. Which is why I value replies such as Jay's, because they educate me on where I need to change my thinking and methods.

So as mentioned, I'll put some thought into it, maybe break down and grab some hosting after the first of the year. Already planned on doing that for pic galleries so I can submit to linklists, maybe I'll do it for video too, eventually. One project at a time.

In any event, I apologize for drifting from the original subject of the thread, but hey, at least it kept getting bumped!

DartDave - Yeah, like Ramster said - I might want a few more videos, but the traffic I have will be more productive and will come in over alonger period of time, and (if you play your card right) can get you positions on the search engines.

The TGP traffic is a fast blast of less productive traffic, so that why you may be afraid of your bandwidth bill, and I don't blame you.

hey jay i do to think the future of surfn for porn is movies

put yourself in there shoes if i am going to pay 30 bucks to join a site i sure dont want pic samples everybody wants video and if you are going to do that and your not worried about bw make the video samples look as good as you can because if the qualitly of the samples suck the surfer will think the real videos suck that they have to pay for

once i get back to working on pornoplenty i am going to list as many hosted movie galleries as i can and when it starts to take off i am going to change hosts because i am limited on bw and kick ass

plateman - yeah - you don't want to give them all of the videos, in sequence. as a free site. a good short clip works very well to entice a surfer to join a site to get the whole thing

Yeah, obviously it would be hard to make galleries with 10-12 movies, atleast if you're trying to have only one celeb per gallery.
