Question Source code encrypters

I found a source code encrypter on http://www.iwebtool.com/html_encrypter I thought about placing in on my site. If you encrypt your source code can the Search Engines still spider your site?

You could make a test page and try a spider simulator on it and see what happens.

I tried it out... damn that's a lot of giberish! If I wanted to make a change to the code I'd be screwed! |shocking|

It also uses java, which means any browser with java disabled will get the 'ol polar bear covering his nose in a snow storm effect.

Plus, it doesn't actually protect anything from another webmaster, it just converts everything to different set of characters. Maybe it makes things more difficult to bother with, but if you've got a really wicked series of html tags there's nothing stopping someone from "unencrypting" it, or just copying it as is anyway.

As for what SE bots read, I've no idea, but I suspect straight html is probably easier to digest for a hungry spider than a bunch of escaped characters wrapped in java.

It's interesting, but I don't see the value in using it.

Hey,

this has nothing to do with your thread.. but the PNG file at the top of your site is almost half a meg in size (cockhungryhoes). That's a lot of bandwidth for nothing-- you should seriously think about shrinking it (save you a ton of money, I'd gather). I got it down from 500kb to 6kb just by using ImageReady.

I think it's safe to say that it will completely stuff up your SE listings and a small percentage of your visitors won't be able to see your page at all.

HTML was made to be human readable and there's not much you can do about it...

And on top of that, it triples the file size of your pages... I'd suggest staying well clear of it.

Thanks for the advise! I got wraped up in designing it and all the other things I forgot to check the banner size. I have fireworks its very hard to control as a noob. Its a little hard to find the time to take on the 1200 pages book I have on how to operate it!
