Why do sponsors like DanzaBucks ask us to sign up again?

I just saw an email from them this morning that says (emphasis mine):

Dear existing affiliate.. please pardon our mess while we bring you DanzaBucks 2.0

PLEASE SIGN UP AGAIN in order to keep tracking your traffic correctly.

IF YOUR AN EXISTING AFFILIATE PLEASE DO THE FOLLOWING

1. SINGUP FOR A DANZABUCKS 2.0 ACCOUNT HERE

2. CONTACT SUPPORT@DANZABUCKS.COM ASAP WITH YOUR NEW AFFILIATE INFO

3. IN THE MEANTIME CHANGE YOUR LINKS TO THE NEW LINKING CODES AND NEW HOSTED GALLERIES THAT COMES ALONG WITH YOUR DANZABUCKS 2.0 ACCOUNT

So...an existing affiliate has to go sign up for the program all over again and then let them know that they've done that, and then would still have to change all their links (including fhg/hfs) to use new linking codes.

I'm really not sure why sponsors would continue to take careful aim and shoot themselves in the foot like this.

Anyone really going to bother doing this?
