I know that it's our fault for going over there and fucking things up, but I will be so goddamn happy when we're done with those people. (And I realize that saying "those people" in a derogatory manner is ethnocentric.)

I wonder how many barrels of oil the Iraqi people could be converted to?

Well, I did 11 months and 2 days (according to my DD214, seemed like an eternity) there, and the average Achmed or Mahmoud in Iraq is pretty much just like us. They are afflicted with the same vermin we are here though: politicians in particular, with the normal distribution of criminals, lazy asses, and wackos (how's that for a PC term?). There is one interesting cultural difference: Iraqi men cannot get married until they can prove to the potential bride's father that they can support her financially, regardless of whether the potential bride will be his first or fourth wife.

No. Joe is not a common name there: the two most common names I heard were Achmed and Mahmoud.
