Any tips for title tag keywords?

I was reading how important title tag keywords are, yet I'm sure "free porn" and such are used a lot. Should I try to differentiate somehow? What's the best way to approach this?

Thanks!

How about phrases that actually describe what is on the page? That tends to work for me.

LD - I think its best to really target whats on the page. If its Free Porn - is it videos? pictures? flash? galleries? free sites? links? Etc.

Targets are only hit when they are relevant and to be honest are much more productive.

Free Porn = 66,000,000
Free Porn Pics = 2,700,000

I'd say that ranking higher for Free Porn Pics is more likely than Free Porn alone

Good info, thanks...I was just concerned that there's probably a gazillion sites out there using free porn.

This is usually the approach I take as well..

I try to avoid using the word 'free' as a keyword if possible.

do your keyword research with http://tools.seobook.com and see how different keywords get the traffic you want. But the higher the traffic the more competative the term will be. You might get more traffic ranking #1 for a less searched for term than you would raking #30-#50 for Free Porn or whatever. Plus you can always change it and after a month or so it will adjust and you can rank for different keywords as your site grows.

Well... personal opinion here so YMMV... but if I'm trying to sell something I don't want surfers who already know to search for "Free" porn of any kind. I'd much rather have someone searching for some combination of terms which indicate very specific wants if not actual needs.

If they know to search for "free" they're mostly a lost cause (again, my opinion only).

Yup Simon summed it up, thats pretty much the way I see it. Someone searching for 'free' is more than likely a freeloader.

Yea for a linklist its probably a good idea.

But when I build freesites or blogs, I try to avoid using the word free if possible.
