exit links.

wondering why do so many people put exit links to things like google? is it considered safer to have the exit option as for u/a surfers? or something along those lines.....always thought of it as a traffic leak,,,as i cannot imagine that it would benefit you in google listings in any way to link to them. thoughts?

Exit link you can use for one of your mainstream sites where you offer other goods like t-shirts, gadgets etc. This way little traffic go to your other site and not Google. They have plenty of it.
But you don't need exit link at all. If you want to be on safe side just write: "... then please leave/exit this site ..." or something along these lines somewhere under your big ENTER.

Did you notice that there is no exit link on galleries ?

i just dont understand the point of having one that goes to something that doesnt benefit your bottom line. the exit if your offended type of text is good enough and it doesnt leak traffic so i just dont get why people do it.

I think some people use the "google" exit link in hopes it will boost their ranking, or raise their listing there. It doesn't.

Like PC said if you feel you must use one, exit off to one of your mainstream sites, that way you might be able to regenerate a little of your own traffic back to yourself. Most people just hit their back button though.

You spend time to build sites, submit them so you can make a few bucks out of them.... why would you want to guide them out on the first page?

I used to use exit links years back on my AVS sites because I had to, when I started building freesites I used exit link as well because I thought I had to but as soon as I found out that was not the case, I got rid of it. You will get NO benefit from it.

thanks. yeah im not saying i want to use them. im saying i still see them, especially on freesites and i don't get why people would put a traffic leak right there on the first page, just the text warning to leave is legal enough. and like its been stated. your not getting a seo boost from linking to google. i would think that if that has any effect at all it would be negative over positive. thanks all for the feedback, any other thoughts are of course welcome as its just meant to be a topic for discussion anyway. thanks again.
