![]() Do we need a software forum?
Anyway I have a question about ICQ on the Windows platform. Does it suffer from the same problem as it does on the Mac as explained below? On my Mac if I put my laptop to sleep when I wake up my computer ICQ only thinks it is connected, but it is not. In order to get it really connected I have to hit disconnect and then connect, very annoying. To make matters worse other people will still see me online and any messages that they send me will never be received by me. I never noticed this before since I was not on a laptop full time until now. Basically ICQ does not handle having the computer being put to sleep properly. |

That was one of the problems with the older versions. I think you can change your settings in the new one.

Thanks, I was using an older version. I just downloaded the latest version available for the fruit, version 3.4 build 23.
Guess if that doesn't fix it I'll try one of the other ICQ clients. |

You could just turn ICQ off when you leave the computer

That would mean that I would actually have to remember to do it.
For some reason my memory isn't that good some days. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I wonder what it could be? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I first noticed it with Luna some time ago. I would be sending her messages and she would never get them since her ICQ wasn't really connected even tho it looked like she was online at my end. I can't tell you how many times we reinstalled ICQ not knowing what the cause of the problem was. After awhile we learned that hitting disconnect and reconnect was a work around, but it wasn't until started using a laptop that I realized sleep was the problem.
I installed the latest version, it is a lot nicer, let's see if it fixes the problem. Anyway thanks, at least now I know it isn't just fruits that have this problem. |

Well you know boys, a nuclear reactor is a lot like women. You just have to read the manual and press the right button
|
Have you tried using GAIM over at sourceforge.net instead???
Might solve the problem... |

Actually the latest version seems to have fixed the problem. Now when I wake up my machine ICQ reports that the connection has been closed like it should.
