Last Hump Day of 2013 and just 365 days until we do it again.

Went to a Christmas party last night at a neighbor's house. I felt like I was in an urgent care center. Ages ranged from early twenties to late eighties. The talk was all about what medical procedure everyone was having done. Youngest person there just had knee surgery and his leg was in this huge hinged device. One was getting ready to have both knees replaced. Another just had T-cells injected into her lungs. Another had stage 4 cancer and was having chemotherapy. Plus lots of talk about getting plastic surgery. Then the talk moved on to medical insurance. Christy mentioned that she just gotten much better insurance through Obamacare and with her subsidy she would be paying less and then I mentioned that I'm doing the same in about a month. Judging by the reaction by some of the people there you would think that we had taken a gun out and was robbing them.

Just one more event to do for this "joyous" time of the year. Heading up to Christy's mom's place for a meal. We are taking our bikes up with us since there is some very nice bike trails up that way.

@Cleo Your neighbours sound crazy!

Why do so many American fight against their own economic self-interest? Every Western country has some form of socialized health care.

My daughter woke up, unwrapped her presents and then declared everything unsatisfactory. Yeah, whatever. Go fuck yourself.

Waiting for my much more grateful son to wake up and open presents with him and my wife. Later we are having my brother-in-law and some close friends over for a traditional Xmas dinner. That will be followed by a red wine and turkey induced coma.

I love my friend, but she is odd at times
She was basically uninsurable due to her asthma, and when the pcip insurance went up to 432 a month this past year she couldn't even afford that lifeline
Finally talked her into the Affordable Healthcare plan for the upcoming year...where she will now have insurance with very low deductables with a premium of just 20 DOLLARS A MONTH!
She still hates Obamacare though

BLASPHEMY! (referring to the thread title)

Besides from praying and thanking our lord Jesus "El Saviour" Christ all day I had a nice dinner at my dad's place. Kids opened their presents, we got a nice discount on the loan we have with my dad. So it was a nice day.

Time to go spend some time on the couch now.
