doorway page?
Are doorway pages really that bad? I am creating what the mainstream considers doorway pages, but they are all relevant to my site. I have various pages on my site that have 5-6 pictures, all of which are part of a series. There is plenty of text on the pages but I am not sure if Google/Yahoo would be upset at what I'm doing. When I look at the #1 google search term I want I see a page with less than what i'm doing. How do you all feel about doorway pages? What makes them good/bad?

Pure "doorway" pages are the same exact site repeated over and over, all leading to the same place. Most often done by having hundreds of html pages on the same domain that point to the same inside page.
Like any SE work, you get the best results by not having duplication of content and pages. If your sites are all unique, well, you should be fine, don't worry about it. If you are just duping the same stuff over and over again without major change, you might find yourself in a hole. Try and try again :-) Alex |

I don't think those would be punished as doorway pages either, if you make any reasonable effort to put content on the pages, and don't use a page duper or some other script to generate multiple copies with small variations.
But you can never be 100% sure, the SE's might get a wild hare up their butts and punish you for god knows what. ;-} And the SE algos let a lot of classic obvious-as-can-be doorways take top positions. Wether or not you can get those pages those capture any reasonable rank is another question entirely. |
