Sad day in the NBA

Reggie Miller and Karl Malone will both retire this year.

Reggie is my all time favorite player; I even named my cat Reggie Miller since when we got him as a 6 week old kitten he was a runt with huge ears and bad attitude.

I do not think the Pacers can make the Finals this year, and this should have been their year, but the brawl ended that hope with the over reaction of suspensions.

Only John Stockton has been with one team longer then Reggie, he had a chance to go to the Knicks 6 years ago for big $ but decided to stay in Indiana and help them to the Finals. I will never forget the 8 points he scored in 8.9 seconds vs the Knicks, the rivalry he had/has with Spike Lee and the game winning 3 pointer he made over Jordan in ’98 (the night of our first anniversary) and so many more game winning shots.

Larry Bird said if he had one player to make the final shot he would take Reggie over Jordan. Jordan has said the only player to ever get into his head was Reggie. And of course he’s the all time leading 3 point shooter.

Malone was also a favorite of mine, I was very sad to see him go to the Lakers and I wish he would go to the Spurs just to finish out with another chance to win a ring on a non Laker team.

The NBA will never be the same

I don't know what you're upset about... it's time to celebrate!!

Both Reggie and Karl have given us thousands of hours of NBA games.

With respect to Reggie, I can't count how many times my wife and I laughed while Cheryl was interviewing him.

Good for both of them, they're both set, they aren't stupid, they'll both end up in the Hall of Fame.

Though I'm sure Reggie knows that Cheryl will always have the collegiate single game scoring record for that family.

I still can't believe Karl Malone didn't win a championship. I was sure when he did the quick stint with the Lakers he would get one.

Stockton and Malone, what a killer combo those two were. I seriously doubt there was a better Point Guard / Power Forward Combo then those two. The Utah Jazz never bothered to put all the tools together to make those two get their championship.

Reggie Miller can go suck my left nut, lol, I'm a Knicks fan and he's just one of those players I just loved to hate. It was a good time though with the Pacer / Knick rivalry...some awesome games came out from it.

Utah had a great team but it was in the peek Jordan years. Took them to 7 games (I think) in the finals one year.

Reggie was great, no doubt. And we (guys I play basketball with) still make reference to his 2-3 pointers over the Knicks.

Well, Jordan / Pippen > Stockton and Malone? Probably, lol, and I was so supporting the Jazz in that series. I lost some serious coinage as well.

NBA slightly lost my interest a few years ago though...Not sure if it was my overwhelming hate for the Lakers or just Kobe Bryant. Considering I recently watched a Heat game and could enjoy Shaq playing...I'm guessing that it was just Kobe Bryant that pisses me off.

Dareutwo: Being 2nd to Cheryl is nothing to be embarrassed about, she was that damn good.

Mr Blue: I feel the same way about LJ and Patrick and John, but oh how I miss the Pacer/Knick games. My all time favorite rivalry. Watching Reggie nail 25 points in the 4th and talking shit to Spike was classic.

Ramster : Bulls beat the Jazz in 6 both times.

Pacer / Knicks to me...those were so much better then the finals. They were just the games to watch. I kinda lost my loyalty for the Knicks when they traded Ewing...Ewing so needed to finish his career with the Knicks...I don't care if he was old and losing his step they should have kept him until the end. What's pathetic, I'm so disinterested in the knicks now I don't think I could name their starting lineup, lol.
