Did anyone else get an email from Adult Players Club?

Hi - I just got an email with lots of ALL CAPS warnings from APC that anyone who promotes their sites via email spam will have their account terminated.

It was sent to me at one of my domains (not to a "recipent list suppressed" mass mailing) so it looks at least like a direct email to me.

I've never sent a single email spam message promoting any sponsor, ever, so this is a bit confusing and worrying. I wrote 'em back but I'd really feel better knowing that this was a general mailing to the affiliates, though the tone was rather abrubt and rude for that, IMO.

It's just a form letter, to all affiliates. Not to worry.

Good for them, that they are getting out of spam.

Many other companies will follow, or have made that the policy already, because of the growing legal risk.

And I fully and enthusiastically support sponsors that come down hard on spam. It's a daily hell for me just dealing with my own inbox (and yes I have spam filters, but that doesn't change the fact that I get around 100 messages an hour hitting that filter, of which 97 are spam). XXX spam does nothing but arouse the ire of the congenital idjits in Congress, and we'd all be better off if they weren't feeling the need to pay attention to us, IMO.

That makes me think that they might be on the receiving end of an investigation. So, they have to disavow spam quickly and roughly...

Either that or they have a slightly clueless person writing their business letters.

Could be either. Or both. ;-}

did they send it to the e-mail that you have in your account info? I haven't gotten anything but then my spam filters block everything except spam

I was actually hoping to hear something from them as there was at least a 12 hour period on monday where my stats didn't move 1 hit and they usually announce if they have problems fairly quickly... anybody else see their APC stats dip on the 28th or was it just me?

Yes, they sent it to the addy I have on file with them.

And yes, there was a good 12 hours or so where stats weren't showing up but then they did and it all looks normal to me. Probably just a glitch.

Promotion of AdultPlayersClub and its affiliates, and any of their Programs and services via email is not permitted or endorsed by AdultPlayersClub, and AdultPlayersClub shall not accept any such promotions.

If you send any promotions via email or email systems, your account shall be immediately terminated and you shall forfeit all monies owed to you.

The prohibition against using email for promotions is strictly enforced by AdultPlayersClub, in accordance with the terms of service governing your membership.

Yep that's the one. So you can see how one might construe it as a direct warning about an actual violation. Something like "An urgent reminder to all our affiliates" to start off the email might have been better. But then, I'm not known for my subtle diplomacy skills either, so... |cool|

I have the feeling that the FTC or similar is starting to make some phone calls or send some people to visit some of these programs... This is starting to be a run.

EMAIL PROMOTION IS NOT TOLERATED
Sending traffic from email will result in immediate termination and all monies forfeited.

PimpRoll accepts no email promotion OF ANY KIND WHATSOEVER.

Any traffic from email will result in immediate account cancellation and forfeiture of all monies.

I personally find it comforting to get these e-mails from sponsors. At least they're doing their part to stop the madness. I think I'll start promoting them again
