Can someone help me out?
Recently, I discovered that one of the registrars that I have a few domains with, has been gobbled up.
I have a spreadsheet outlining domains I have when they were purchased and when they are coming due. My dilemma is this: what do I do to keep the domains that I already have? I dont want to lose these domains! Anyone have any advice?

When you say 'gobbled up', do you mean they purchased by another registrar? Why would this affect the status of your domains? Do you still have access to them so that you can transfer them away if need be?

I would try to transfer them to your new registry.

That's the thing...
I've kept all emails pertaining to recipts and so on. I have the passwords to log into the old company cpanel but that is no longer applicable. I would love to transfer them to a new registry but I don't have a clue how to go about doing it. Should I contact one of my other registrars and ask them to step in? ![]()

I use DIrectNic. For $15 bucks I just tell them to transfer my domain to them in my . As long as no one declines the transfer it goes through.

I straightened out my domain registrar mess a short time ago.
Turns out the company that bought out the former registrar in question, failed to send me an email that my domains were coming up for renewal and according to icaap rules, that's a no no. After a pleasant verbal exchange I talked to them and convinced them to turn the block on the domains off and promptly went to godaddy (I know) and they took go care of me, believe it or not. Thanks for the tips, the help and your input, Useless Warrior, Cleo, and Rocco! ![]()

Domain registrars can't block transfers now under the new ICANN rules. It seems Godaddy and NetSol were being bad boys, and as a result ICANN changed the rules. Make sure you leave enough time if you are transferring out though, as they still seem to try to hang on if they can. The latest trick is to block transfers if you make trivial changes before the transfer.
