Question on Link Pages

I was thinking about adding a link page to some of my sites, knowing that it would definitely be one of my 3 allowed off-site links. What I envisioned was a page that would have text links to my sponsor sites as well as those link lists that have already listed me. This would be an additional link - the index page links are not removed unless I am not listed.

So many LLs state only 3 off-site links per page, no matter what kind of page. How would y'all treat this kind of page?

Sorry to sound dense here, but I am really trying to make sure I am not going to be cutting my throat with this idea...

There will never be more than 3 off-site links from my main or gallery pages. However, my index pages have more (recips), and this link page could well have 50-100. Also, I don't do blind links ever, so this would clearly be labeled as "Links to more porn". Okay or not okay?

Ummm, I'm talking about the free site itself.

Index page - 3 links to where ever he wants
Main page - 3 links to where ever he wants
Galleries - 3 links to where ever he wants

If one of those 3 links is to a "links page", that's up to him and it's up to him to do what he wanna put on it.

When did a "links page", which is INSIDE the architecture of a typical freesite, become an _outgoing_ link?

Sometimes all the new linklists just seem to go off the deep end trying to outdo each other in strictness or with the latest trend in structure, without asking yourselves what the actual function of such strictness is supposed to be.

If links that were inside the same free site dir wouldn't count, it would take about 1 hour before people would start abusing it and put up moneybars pointing to FPA's located in the same dir. "Hey, they're not counted, it's within the same dir".

So my stand on it is that if the submitter makes money or benefits from the link, it's counted. That way there's no room for abuse or misinterpretation.

Is Pagan asking for permission to add a 5th page to his free sites and that page would be this 'links page'? Or is he asking for permission to place 50-100 additional links on his index page? Or is he asking if it is ok to link to a 'links page' that isn't even within the structure of the free site itself?

If it's a 5th page that is part of the free site's structure, to me, that would be bad. That wouldn't just violate the max links-out rule, it would hit with sticks, ass rape it, and bury its mutilated corpse in several unmarked graves.

If he is asking to add all of the links to the index page, well, that would be a monster no-go as well.

If he's asking if it's ok to link to a pre-built page somewhere off of the free site itself, I could care less, as long as it is one of his three links. Within those three links, as long as one isn't linking to anything illegal, I don't really care.

Not that my opinion matters.

hehehe.. Kudos to Useless Warrior for feeding my mind... oh, and I am definitely female, dear.

I don't want to do the 5th page thingie. I push the envelope enough with 30 pics in 3 galleries. I like lean, clean pages with minimal advertising to distract the surfer. Let 'em get hot with what they see, then the very limited advertising becomes crystal clear (I hope). I HATE sites where you can't figure out where to click because of all the ads, or ones that have so much going on that you can't find the pics. Index pages likewise have to be kept clean... I started with 12-15 recips, and now only do 6 recips. Gotta keep that surfer focused on the task at hand, right?

But.. what about all those other great sites that have done me the honor of linking to me? My idea is a links page.. housed on the main domain, but linked to (like my BDSM library now is) from any relevant site. You LLs get more exposure, I get to show a few more text links to my sponsors, and we all smile. If the surfer wants more, he will have a nice tasteful selection to some of the best porn out there.

I just wanted to be sure that this was something kosher now. I always had links on my older sites, but well.. I had lots of stuff there that we no longer do.

And yes, Useless Warrior.. your opinion does matter at least to some of us. Thanks for the input!

SaucyPanties - the 3 link rule is something that a lot of Link Lists put into place a long time ago - you're allowed to have a max of 3 banners/ads per page on the Free Sites you submit to the Link Lists that have the rule in place.

ok im really new and ive been trying to understand this 3 link rule i have a free site meaning i dont charge people to surf but i have paid for my own domain name and i have way more then 5 pages and i do have 1 page of links that will have way more then 3 outgoing links but i also have a gallery page where i will be updating regulary but it will not have more then 3 links on it and the gallerys themselves will have links from the sponsors who provide the content so am i violating the 3 link rule or not please help me understand

Hi Spurtzz,

I had this problem when I first discovered free sites. I thought they were like free pubs and not tied to a particular brewery.

In fact the sort of site you mention could be a fake TGP or something like that. "Free sites" have come to mean a fairly specific four page structure of Warning > Index > 2 galleries.
They can also be in a simple sub-directory and not even a "site" as you think of it.

If you want to submit to a link list, then you have to obey the 3 link rule. This means you will have to build a four page "free site" in a sub-directory so that you can submit. You may be able to submit the entire "site" (ie the domain) to a link dump, but you should check the rules for submission first.
