Bob Denver, whose portrayal of goofy castaway Gilligan on the 1960s TV show "Gilligan's Island" made him an iconic figure to generations of TV viewers, has died. He was 70.

Very sad news! When my husbands cell phone rings it plays the theme song from Gilligans Island. He often answers it "Gilligan Here"........

I don't think anyone played the happy village idiot as well as he did. Maybe he hasn't done much for a few decades but we all seem to remember him well. See ya little buddy.

I heard an interview with him this morning...he said he didn't mind eveyrone coming up to him and wanting to meet him...he said he enjoyed it because people were always happy to see him

The TV said he died of complications during cancer treatments.
Did anyone else hear differently?

I had many many happy hours as a kid watching that show.
