Movable Type Question...
I have just gotten around to being able to say I have "figured out" some of Movable Type... the templates are clunky and crazy! I found this nifty little tool which makes templates and the code is oh so much easier to modify and customize...
http://styles.movalog.com/generator/generator.php But, it did not change the styles for the comments area. So basically if you click on my blog to leave a comment: http://www.xbdsm.com/blog/ You get a black page (my choice) with dark grey text (NOT my choice). For the life of me I cannot figure out how to change that text; somehow or other the Movable Type code is actually pulling a default comments template from elsewhere. I think! |confused| Has anyone else dealt with this? Or am I the only person who has bothered getting movable type which I thought would be so easy and nifty and wound up being a pain in the butt. (But the blog is starting to look nice!) I now have a members only blog on my amateur site also that has the same problem... so if anyone has any thoughts, I'd be so grateful! Cheers, Tamara |

not many movable type users around here....only one I know is ronnie. If he doesn't reply soon you may want to try PM'ing him.

I use movable type…
Try going into the templates section and rebuilding that template. |

Cleo thanks for the tip... I don't know what I'm missing, but I don't see a template for the comments input area anywhere. I have a comment preview template, a comment pending template, and a comment error template, but nothing where it says "comment post template." Or somesuch. Am I missing something that should be glaringly obvious??? Thank you so much! Best, Tamara |

I'm running a couple of plugins that you might want to check out.

Thanks Cleo... I have StyleCatcher installed but wasn't crazy about their pre-made styles... so I used that little tool I posted above and totally bastardized it. It makes simpler code so it was easier for me to figure out. I have everything exactly the way I want it except this one little tiny thing which is perplexing me so!

I finally figured it out... er, or my super-brilliant honey did...
Sometimes you cannot see the forest for the trees... in the individual archives template, we just added font color tags to each line; name, email, comments, etc. Now I have nice white text! Woo hoo! Just posting this in case any of the few other MT users ever has that problem! Cleo thank you again for all your help! |
