More newbie questions

Hi all,

back after switching hosting and waiting for that to propagate followed by the worst bloody fever I had in ages leaving me knocked out for 5 days straight (yes, weep for me comrades)

Anyways, still very much the newbie, here are a few questions I have been thinking about:

1. Was about to register another domain or two. Somewhere I read that addresses with dashes are better than without because search engines will see the words as separate (i.e. my-cool-sexy-domain.com would be better than mycoolsexydomain.com ), but then I read somewhere else that dashes are not recommended, without any reason stated. So which one is it?

2. I was thinking about buing some traffic for www.cumslutworld.com. Right now it gets about 3-400 visitors a day which kind of sucks. Can you recommend a good traffic provider for MGP/TGP traffic?

3. Again, about the same site (www.cumslutworld.com), it gets about zero search engine traffic (maybe 4-5 google hits a day and even less from msn), and I don't see what's wrong. Then again, I know nothing about SEO. Would be really grateful for some help! Maybe some of the stuff I've done are just stupid, though I thought they would help.. like having different alt tags for all pictures, having a 3-4 word description for all galleries, putting up an outrageously silly "story" on the site (to get some "content") etc.

4. This question is silly, but just have to ask. Everywhere I read: "Now, put up a lot of hardlinks to your site. Google likes that". Ok, I get the idea but just how do you manage to do that? Somehow I don't think buying 50 domains and having them all point to my site is going to do me much good, but how does it work then... ? People are not going to put hardlinks to my site just like that, are they...? Unless I already have a lot of traffic, getting me back to (2).

Awww...

My understanding of this had to do with having a domain that would match up with a possible surfer search phrase hence wanting to have a url that had spaces between the words. This was all the rage a while back... don't know if it still is. Personally, I look for a name that is:

easytoememberoreasytotypebecauselongurlswithlotsofwords
anddashesisreallyhardtoreadandhardtoreadishardtoremember.
But, that's me.

All good things, keep doing them and keep learniing about SEO. Its not that hard but it is constantly changing in some respects. However, in addition to a good page well optimized, the SE has to see a dynamic site with new material being added daily or a site that has lots of incoming links to you that indicates to the SE that your site is important to others. If its important to others its important to the SEs.

This is the easiest to answer. Get to know people like you are doing right here and here http://www.greenguysboard.com/board/...isplay.php?f=4.

Its the only way, one and two links at a time (however those proposed 50 domains wouldn't hurt either as long as they were spread around on different servers and you had a little traffic/PR on them) Do you know what PR is? If not check out a Google search on "Page Rank". Once you're around awhile and people know you're not going to serve up viruses, popup hell, and other crap you'll develop link relationships easier.

I'll give you an index page trade to get things started....
Submit your info here http://www.triplexxx.info/rankem/submit.html and I'll give you an index page and the top list
I'll send you the recip by email.

It has been updated every day for a month and a half now and I'll make sure to keep it that way. I do need more incoming links...

I just recently became familiar with the whole PR thing. Unfortunately, Google gives cumslutworld.com a 0.... This wouldn't be so bad since I hope with more incoming links/traffic it will eventually increase, but what do annoy me is that the main page's low ranking seems to have propagated to all my free sites so far (about 20-25 or so) since they are on the same domain (yes they are all PR 0, and I don't really think they deserve that... ). Guess I should put them somewhere else from now on.

It can take a few months before you get any PR at your site.
That google thing is unpredictable

About your freesites, it should not have any effect on your freesites though your mainpage have PR0.
I have several freesites with PR 3-4 laying at the same domain as a PR1 mainsite. (but i am not sure though...WTF..who IS sure when it comes to that google thingy?)

Ok, both of you have a recip up on the index page now! Oh DJilla you said you said you would send a recip by email but your script suggested a link so I just put that up for the time being. Also, I'm embarassed to say I don't quite know what to do with that "toplist" link (like, where do I put it and how does that system work), could you help out?

Great bud! I'll be putting your link up in a few minutes. You handled it right. The "top list" is a script I use for making handling trades easier and quicker for everybody. I'm really looking for PR2 or better index page trades and give the trader an EXTRA link in the top list free as an incentive. So you used the right code

If people just want a toplist trade with any PR page then they would use the code that has the hit sender ID and they can put that link anywhere they want. In your case, you can put the ID# link up somehere or not, its up to you, I'll still be giving you both links. Just happy to get you started.

BUT just a little note, my way of handling this top list is known as a huge "traffic leak". That means you are sending hits out but not necessarily getting anything back. Obviously not a good deal and not a practice to follow. I'm doing it that way because TripleXXX is a new link list this year and I'm still tweaking it here and there and as a way to get to know new webmasters like you while I build my index page PR. Its my decision to want to build infrastructure right now and I'm not tripping about loosing a hit here or there. As we get new WM's like you off the ground to fame and riches I'm sure you'll remember ole TripleXXX. Also, I send an email confirmation of the index page trade only so the other WM knows the deal is sealed.

As you do build PR you generally want to trade links with those of the same or greater level. Trading down too much can bring your PR down too. Even still, you'll find lots of people on this board who are more than willing to do this and give you a leg up (like picxx... how cool was that?). So keep posting and keep learning and be patient.

Good Luck!

Your link is up MM.
I do belive a "toplist link" is for traffic trading, not hardlink exchange.
