What do you consider a good % of bookmarkers?

What percent of your blog traffic is bookmakers?

My fetish blog is pulling in 35% bookmarkers. My teen and babe blogs are 12%

How do you detect bookmarkers?
Do you record the click on the Bookmark link or do you record surfers that don't have a referrer header or maybe another method.
This is important otherwise 35% doesn't mean much.

I look at Google Analytics % of returning visitors. They also have a very nice breakdown of visitor loyalty that shows you how frequently visitors return.

I also use AW stats and that has an estimated bookmaker rate.

Since analytics, at least for me, seems to only count about 50% of the uniques as seen on my server stats (awstats or webalyzer) I pretty much discounted it. Sure they got nice charts and graphs but I tend to discount all of it when the sampling is so far off from actuality.

That having been said, the one site that I did install analytics on shows just under 50% bookmarks. It's a fetish site but we're not comparing apples to apples.

Without a comparison between same niche sites, I think it's pretty meaningless.

Anything above 0% is good.

There is no way to estimate bookmarkers without auto-installing a trojan on every visitor's PC - and that still wouldn't be overly accurate since there are at least 2 or 3 surfers out there using Macs.

Ignore what AW Stats tells you. It's bollocks. That's the number of times browsers looked for a site's fav.ico. The lack of a fav.ico in the browser's cache isn't necessarily indicative of whether or not that surfer has been there and certainly doesn't mean that they've bookmarked or not. Plus, not all browsers care about the fav.ico.

Isn't the internet wonderful?

Is that how AW Stats does it? I don't even have a fav.ico. Wouldn't looking at visitors without a referer be somewhat accurate (unless you have a domain with lots of type in traffic)

Or what about setting a cookie? Except for the small number of visitors who disable cookies.. wouldn't that work?

Let's not forget, FireFox often pulls the fav.ico when a page is loaded in a tab too.

I use the AW Stats percentage of bookmarkers only to compare my own sites to each other. Yes it does count only IE fav.ico requests, so whether or not you have one can slant things on your results. I make sure there's a fav.ico on the sites where I use AW Stats.

For example AW Stats tells me that 64.8% of the visitors to my xratedtv.com site are bookmarkers.

I'm not sure if I should or

Just an update on the accuracy of AWStats "Add to favorites (estimated)" field. My new site is currently at 109.9%. So I assume that means that not only is every individual who visits my site bookmarking it, but so are some of their friends who have not yet been there.
