Best way to setup link exchanges?

I've been a little scare around here due to an upcoming house-move, but I hope some kindly folks will give me some advice. My question regards link exchanges (not with traffic trade scripts), but feel free to throw anything you want at me (critiques, ideas, etc).

I'm developing a new tgp http://www.real-amateur-wives.com

I'd like to setup link exchanges with good-quality sites covering niches other than my own. The main reason is to boost SE PR. Reason for different niches is best explained by this analogy:

You walk into a Mc D's. How many adverts do you see for Burger King? Zero. But you might see ads for products not offered by Mc D's. In terms of link exhanges, this is my philosophy.

What is the best way to find/setup link exchanges? I'm just over a year in the biz, so I'm limited when it comes to trading with friends - many of whom have either quit the industry or don't operate appropriate sites. Aside from posting in the forum here, is there another source I can use?

Any well-intentioned advice would, as always, be more than appreciated

Yes, such info would be much appreciated, since I am in a similar situation. I have found it rather difficult to find sites that would do permanent link exchanges, it’s mainly CJ sites out there and that’s not the kind of traffic that I would like to trade with.
