Hello,

I hope the redirecting is not going to be applied to all porn sites out there cos its happening to me more and more often that i don't get the page I want to see but get redirected to a paysite in my own language (dutch)

I wanted to check a sponsor banner on this board (discountpassbucks) but coult not see it because I got redirected to a dutch paysite and a lot of pop-ups.

Is there a way to get around this?

I have to assume that the redirect is coming from there end as I know we have nothing like that on here

Hey there,

Discount Pass Bucks redirects certain countries that dont like to use credit cards. Netherlands happens to be one of those countries.

If you signup an account and have netherlands as your account country then you can view any tour without a problem.

Signup an account and take a look at the tours with your linking code

It depends on the Geotracking script being used, but generally your IP gives where you are away, and it will be hard to get around.

Usually geotracking just influences which billing page to throw up at the surfer, redirecting to a totally different site is unusual.

I don't understand why some webmasters think it's a good idea to redirect foreign traffic. It's so much smarter to display a link or an ad in the foreign surfer’s language. That way if they don't read English they'll click the link and go to a page they can buy from or if they do read English they may be one of those few people who actually have a credit card and will buy from you.

troy, to get around this go through a US based proxy server.

mech, the reason that this is done is because traffic from certain countries is considered garbage when it comes to signing up via credit cards or even collecting email addresses...so the website owner decides to try to make a bit of cash off it by immediately redirecting to a dialer and also they save their bandwidth that way too!

I am **NOT** saying that Dutch traffic is garbage, nor am I saying that this is a good thing to do! Personally, I do NOT support affiliate programs that do this since they are in effect stealing your traffic (do they pay part of those Netherlands dialer revenues?)

I have sexmoney but don't use them because how can you now if non english visitors don't speak english or don't have a credit card?
Especialy Dutch and German visitors all!! speak and read english so redirecting them is in my opinion stupid.

Troy, mech - hate to put it this way, but from a purely biz point of view (and Im not talking sponsors here) if someone is Not using some sort of geotracking or redirecting once a surfer clicks on a paysite banner, they are missing out on a hell of alot of income. I wouldnt get into an ethics discussion about it, as from what Ive seen on sites that do it - it is definitely a biz decision and a very profitable one.

troy - thats correct - some sponsors have programs that will allow you to set up where surfers go after they click the paysite banner depending on where they live - its very profitable for some out there

I wouldnt ever put an overall script that just redirects free site surfers or people before they have clicked on a banner - unless that script is just targetting a particular country that doesnt even support the use of credit cards - but then most of those dont support other methods of paying either - best to just get them off to a trade somewhere

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for geo-targeting, I've been geo-targeting for over a year on my own sites so I know how much it's worth doing but I just think there are better ways to go about it then redirecting. Bandwidth is cheap nowadays so I don't buy that sole excuse anymore.

Yes Troy, hallo vanuit utrecht!!! i was talking about sexmoney, i told them i disagree when someone takes a trial and canseld after 2 days they pull my money, i have alot of foreing traffic, with the low traffic i send them i have a high sign up, its german, french, spanish, but it als depends on the niche you promoot, i have y sites on english at sexmoney because my traffic is english, so i dont use dutch, but yes they get redirected to dutch i just dont like the cansel thing, then if it has to be that way dont show the money in my accound, because i get pissed if they pull it, i cant help they cansel after 2 days, i use per per sign up.
