Been playing around with Debian/linux today

Since I can install OSs into Parallels VMs without fear of messing up my laptop I downloaded and installed Debian/linux today.

I'm surprised how easy it was to get up and running. Also how Mac like it is.

About the only thing that really got me was having to turn on networking each time from an icon in the menu bar. Before I noticed the icon I was going half insane trying to figure out why I couldn't browse the web. Not sure why I have to turn on networking each time I login. I'm guessing that there is someplace to change this so that it is always on.

The other thing I can' figure out is why the maximum screen resolution is 1024x768 in the screen resolution control panel.

Not really sure what I'll use this install for other then to play around with but at least now I know a little bit more about running Debian/linux.

I have only one question for you: what application to add for php in the MIME type list of FF? It is working most of the time as pure text but gets messy after an update.

I'm guessing you mean in Mac X not to in Debian. I don't have anything set for it and it seems to work fine with my php scripts but really I use Safari for almost everything.

Your guess was purrfect, thanks Mine is working fine now just wanted to be sure that it cannot happen again. Good ole times when Nutscrape came with MIME stuff preinstalled.

My new Safari is not able to handle the ccbill GUI or no idea what but I can log in and the pages are blank from that point on.

That's strange, Safari works perfect with CCBill on my machine.
