anyone familiar with cPanel?
Hi. My new hosting situation has me using cPanel for stats, domain maintenance, etc. I've got a couple of questions about things that don't seem to be working quite as they should (bandwidth stats not showing up, webalizer not updated past August 31, main menu page wallpapered with mysql error messages). I spent some time today perusing the cPanel board, and it seems that, while the folks who frequent it seem helpful enough, the majority of it's users are web host resellers making far more technical use of cPanel than my basic "who came by, how many of 'em, how much transfer did they eat" informational needs. Consequently, I noticed that some of the more basic posted questions tend to go unanswered--understandable, given the situation, but not encouraging (and I did spend some time looking through the threads for relevant, if not identical, queries). And I'm beginning to think my new host's self-proclaimed "24/7 email tech support" must just mean that they can receive email at any hour. So, if anyone around here is pretty familiar with the cPanel program, or knows of a good, basic guide they could point me towards, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Well you know boys, a nuclear reactor is a lot like women. You just have to read the manual and press the right button

![]() If your CPanel is messing up and your host is not responsive to your requests for support it's time to change hosts....
There are dozens of hosts who have reasonable prices and good Tech support. Just check out the Resouces section of this site.... ![]() The reason I'm saying that is because CPanel errors are not something you want to have to try and diagnose and fix yourself. You'll probably need ROOT access and a good knowledge of the OS your server is running in addition to a good knowledge of CPanel... |

oh how right you are.
after a good four or five days, they finally got my stats up and running. yay! however, i now find myself having spent the last couple of hours trying to access my sites, my cpanel, my hosts sites (both the one that i purchased the space from(aardvark) and the one that then emailed me with my information (maxxxhosting.com). with no luck. i guess it's bad form to list the name here, but if anyone has had experiences with maxxxhost, please let me know. i'd like to know if this is usual or not. of course, makes no real difference. i'll be transferring about 250 MB of porn again as soon as possible. |
