Which feedlists are you submitting your blogs to?
Hey there bloggers,
I FINALLY got my head around what feeds are recently, and have been updating my blogs with the necessary script changes so that my blogs have proper feeds now. (I use Tom's blog script from http://www.tomsnewbiebooster.com/.) OK, so now I have the feeds... but where to submit them... Seems like there are lots of feedlists out there. Which ones are sending good traffic for you guys and gals? Any help would be appreciated. ~ Latif latifo (at) telus (dot) net

Wheither you think you can or you think you can't, Your right.

Most of the feedlists i see are on free hosted services, not something I really want to use. Are you talking about aggregators? I submit to a few, but can't think of any offhand that send much traffic. Most traffic seems to come from trades.
Best way to find out is to test. |

Hey ronnie,
Thanks for replying. Yeah, it seems like there are a whole bunch of feedlists on the myfeedlist.com freehost... I'm also not as fond of trading with sites on freehosted services as I am with sites that are on their own domains. (Just seems less likely they will be around 6 months, a year, 3 years down the road. But I still do trade with them.) Although there are definitely some great people to trade with who use freehosted services a lot - good thumblogger blogs for example. Also I submitted to one of the subdomain.myfeedlist.com feedlists, turns out I had exchanged PM's recently with this person, who also seems to be in the business for the long-term. But yeah I suppose I am talking about aggregators too. I submitted one site/feed to Pudcat.com but my site didn't get listed for some reason. (Maybe I have to write a fresh post, I'll do one today and see if it gets listed.) Also tried sbloggy.com, waiting for him to list my site. (Looks like a good aggregator.) Thanks again for your reply mate. Anyone else have anything to share regarding submitting to feedlists/aggregators?

I guess my thing with free hosted stuff, the webmasters don't have an incentive to keep up with it, not like they are paying for it. Probably goes way back to free hosting when there use to be so many scammers, people that let stuff go, hosts redirecting, ect, ect. Many reasons most LL's don't take free hosted stuff and haven't for a long time.
Guess it's sad as there are some folks that are serious. On the other hand if they are that serious, they could be buying a domain and hosting, it doesn't cost that much. Thats how I look at it. If they are really serious they should treat it like a business. Seems to me T Pat's stuff sends traffic, I should have mentioned that. There was a big aggregator, one of the first, that use to send good traffic but they turned into a banner farm cluster fuck with sponsor links in the listings, ect. They sent traffic, but sure not going to mention them now. Actually I just checked, they are not even a aggregator any more. Last edited by ronnie; 2007-11-09 at 05:28 PM.. |

Oh no, I'm sweating like Roger Ebert

As far as feedlists....None
Simply put, for the most part they don't send traffic. I'm also not a fan of free hosted stuff for most the the reasons ronnie has already detailed. I know there are some good hard working webmasters on the free hosts which in my mind makes it worse. Because of the advertising that goes along with the host, a free hosted whatever is setup to send more of it's traffic to the free host than me it's trading partner. I treat linking to anything (directories, aggregators, social bookmark sites, feedlists and link partners) all the same. If I like and / or respect you, you get a link. If I like your site or feel it has something unique to offer, you get a link. If I feel that my surfers might enjoy your site, you get a link. |

AHHHH the board ate my post! Maybe it's for the best as it was getting long-winded.
![]() I'll take most incoming links, freehosted or not. (Freehosted stuff I will scrutinize more closely.) I'll take the traffic plus a little PR, and give a little something back to them too. But yeah I definitely also (greatly) prefer links to/from sites on their own domains. Just don't forget guys that the freehosts do offer you something - you don't have to deal with (or have to figure out!!!) hosting costs, the blog/feedlist script, and all the other stuff that goes along with hosting sites on your own domains. That said I will never put any serious sites of my own on a freehost, not a chance! I will take the top ad spot, thank you. (Also if you decide to take a holiday for a year or two, what do you do if thumblogger/myfeedlist.com decides to remove your sites?) Gotta go. T Pat, thanks also for posting, you will probably have some submissions shortly (I will check out your sites first). If anyone would like to list any feedlists/aggregators that are sending them traffic, I'd love to hear from you. Cheers, ~ Latif latifo (at) telus (dot) net

Hey T Pat,
Submitted one blog feed to your three aggregators there. Had one small problem with the submission to the last at http://www.rssxxxfeed.com/, there's no confirmation message when you press submit, it just takes you back to the form and empties the validation code box. To me it looked like it didn't go through so I submitted it again. Maybe might want to add a message saying 'Thanks, submission accepted' -type thing, at least I didn't get one. Just a headsup.

Thanks for the heads up, I just payed the cocksucker that I bought this aggregator script $50 to upgrade the script on that domain to the newest version, being a beta tester sucks
![]() BTW your going to be happy with the traffic it's not a lot but it's all from search engines ![]()
