My first blog

I'm getting ready to promote it, but thought I would get some feedback. I want to add in some handwritten post, but not sure if I have time..for now it's 99% feeds. I can't figure out how to get an image in the header which I would like to do.

Also, on the blog roll: do you typically add just blogs, or all kins of sites?

Nice first blog. You would need to edit the image header_bg.gif or at least thats the only way I know to do it.

I see you've followed at least some of TPat's advice and thats a good thing.

As far as my blog roll, I prefer blogs in the same niche, then other sites in the same niche and finally I'll trade with sites that I like or think my surfers would like.

I usually try to submit to 8-10 blog directories, including the two I run and a couple of LL's that accept blogs.

Setup categories or at least one catch all that's not uncategorized.

I'm not sure how the new wordpress handles tags but if your using BA, you should be able to setup a generic set of tags in BA's header / footer section. The old way using UTW is like this:

[tag]keywords, here, seperated, by, commas[/tag]

I would imagine the same would work with the new WP with tagging built in.

Thanks for all the help and feedback. Walrus, I'll try to figure out the tag thing before I submit...I think I know what you mean, and I am using BA, but not really familiar with that part of the program yet.

I would leave my feed up above Feedburners (http://www.pussymeister.com/?feed=rss) and not devote so much real estate to Feedburner.
I see your having the same problem with chiclet images I am (images not showing up at times) you can fix that by saving the images and delivering the images rather than relying on Rojo or whoever.
I'm about done with the whole chiclet thing and am going to switch everything I have to add this my thinking is 2 out going links are better than 12, of course I could be shooting myself in the foot
The last thing I want to mention is TAGS Walrus and I had several PM's back and forth regarding TAGS over a year ago, I listened to him then got lazy as time went by. On a lark I added tags to RSS XXX Feed about 6 weeks ago my traffic has picked up a lot because of the tags, I'll show ya

LD, I like the feeds by e-mail thing and am trying it on a couple of blogs but I edit out the feedburner link. I figure it's enough that I help them harvest e-mail addresses.

Also, delete the links from your footer. I doubt the mainstream companies mind not being linked to from a porn blog.

Use that space for something more productive, like an old fashioned money bar or something.

It validates now, but I still can't parse it. I think it's all the extra code from that plug in.

Nice blog, especially for your first one, however, you still need to change your permalink structure (SEO, google likes this alot), go to options>Permalinks
then instead of the standard structure use this: /%category%/%postname%/

Your post will then have urls: yourblog.com/category/post-title
instead of yourblog.com/?p=123

Lesson learned today - When setting the permalink structure this way, you should not change your post titles or your links will go 404.

Also special characters like "-" in the post title or your can cause 404 errors.

Excellent...best to get the first one right rather than trying to go back and correct a bunch (I know this from experience... )

The SEO plug is gone...bear with me here..now do I put the key words in the header using the built in template editor in WP?

No you would add the keywords in BA.

Log in to Blog Automater, then templates and create a header for footer template with the tags you want to insert. I messed up on the syntax a bit it should be

[TAGS]comma, seperated, tags[/TAGS]

The S at the end is important as it tells the script it is a list of tags and not a single tag.

Once you've created the header / footer go to camapaigns, search and edit the campaign for your blog. About half way down the page is custom header and custom footer section. The template you just created should show up. Highlight it and then click the "Content Manipulator works for Footers" checkbox. (or "Content Manipulator works for Headers" if you chose a header template.

OK got it. Cool that BA has stuff I didn't even know about. Before I edit all my campaigns, let me ask you about the tags. I entered 15, seperated by commas..like this:

[TAGS]pussy,babe,babes,fuck,sex,twat,tits,ass,lesbian,whore,cunt,fox,beaver,snatch,adult[/TAGS]

Should I go with less, more...anything I ommitted that maybe should be in there?

Schpork, I got the Permalinks sorted out I think. I went with the one that is not date biased...anything i should know there?

Got the links in the footer edited, took out the feedburner link in the email sign up box.. stil playing around a bit with the side bars.

Still having problems with validator..wants to add lots of extra tags in the code...

Walrus, on the tags...they show up in the actual post. WP has a special tag section which does not show up in the post. Should they be in that section?

Sorry LD, it looks like I took you down a blind path.

Tagging in WP 2.3x doesn't support Simple Tags, so that method won't work. It has it's very own system which will import tags that were created prior to the upgrade but doesn't support any of the previous tagging plug-ins. Fuckers!!!

I also seems that the person who wrote the UTW plug-in has gotten tired of chasing the multiple WP upgrades and is no longer developing the plug-in.

So unless you want to edit every post and add your tag list, there is no easy way to do it.

I swear I will never upgrade WP. The thing that I thought made it a powerful script was the large availability of plug-ins, many of which did the same thing a little different so you could customize your functionality. That seems to be gone

The lack of a way to manage tags seems to be an issue in the WP forums. I thought I saw a solution, but I'll have to revisit and see. I put a message at the BA support forum about this issue. Maybe it will at least get them thinking about it.

T-Pat, hope you get better there, man. Not sure why the feeds don't work. I might have missed something you said and screwed something up...not too uncommon thing for me, espcially when it comes to coding and shit.

I had a new fetish blog on my projects list until I installed the WP 2.3x and a copy of BA and found out there's no good way to handle the tagging arrangement I wanted to use. The UTW plugin won't work with the new WP and the same (or very similar) problems using BA's tagging method with WP 2.3x.

Right now I'm waiting to see what the next version of BA looks like. I'm hoping Kaktus builds in a way to add tags there and have them appear correctly in WP 2.3x versions. Also, I'm sure there will be more plugins for the +2.3x versions of WP once developers have had time to, well, develop them.

In the meantime, I have blogs still running on WP 2.0x which are doing just what I want them to do. I like some of the new features in 2.3x but for me it's not ready for production use until BA and some other plugins catch up with how it does things.

The problem is that WP seems to be releasing a "new version" about every six weeks. Or at least an updated version. In my estimation thats way too often, it can't be fully debugged and never really gives the plug-in builders time to catch up.
