sub domains

Whats the general feeling on subdomains? For example if I am making and submitting sites for a sponsor and I want to use something like:

promo.sponsorurl.com

And I mean making sites for them. not my own sites promoting them etc...

I really don't like sub domains and often look for a reason to decline sites that use them.

They seem to go 404 a real lot and often seem to be used by cheaters.

I see no reason to use them at all, just use sub folders.

Subdomains.. banned here yesterday!

Had enuff of them dissappearing regularly..
