well figuring this out was a pain in the ass
if your upgrading a wordpress version older than 2.0 you have to replace the old default theme it doesn't matter if your not using the default theme you still have to replace it

Thanks for that info Pat. I have a couple of 1.5 blogs that I plan on upgrading. You just saved me a few hours of cussing at my monitors.

I know there was another thread before, but still curious, does every one that upgraded to 2.5, like it? Any problems?
Strange thing I noticed the other day. One of my blogs says it's running 2.5 but I haven't upgraded. Should be like 2.3.3 or so. Plus everything looks the same. 2.5 has a different dashboard right? |

It's been a couple years since I really delved into Wordpress so I'm probable not the best person to answer the "do you like 2.5 more" question.
It is a totally new dashboard but a very intuitive layout so the new dashboard shouldn't be a problem for anyone. It took me awhile to find a template that all the functions worked in, so make sure any new templates you choose have been upgraded to 2.5 I tried the RSS Feed sidebar widget and it didn't work for me (everything in the sidebar below the widget disappeared). Also been working with a large database adding a category then a post for that category freezes up the "add new category' function after 20/25 posts. I'll post if I find anymore weirdness.

Ya, I've seen screen shots of the dashboard, I really like it. I know with the older one, after enough plug-ins, ect, it can get a little crowded.
Any one know what is not real stable yet? Course T Pats freezing up is not good. |

Oh no, I'm sweating like Roger Ebert

Other than the fact that I don't like the new dashboard (I have to actually look for things as opposed to being so familiar with the interface it took little to no thought on how to navigate to where I wanted), I haven't had any problems. Since the blog I'm feeding is a massive RSS blog, it gets updated about 80 times a day.
I did add most of the categories before BA posted to the blog but have added a few since without any problems. I've also gone in and edited posts more times than I want to mention and never saw any problems. |

I'm getting used to the new dashboard but I have the same problems - I have to look for stuff that was previously just intuitive.
It appears that Ultimate Tag Warrior doesn't work with this version. Or have I done something wrong?
