Are you sure you're an accredited and honored pornographer?
|
![]() I have just finished reading www.lifeaftertheoilcrash.net which, whilst being thoroughly depressing, seems to me to be plausible and the current gas prices support it.
What do you think? |

Hi Emjay,
They should have realized this in the early 1900's. When choosing the electric car over the "gas" car. Damn lobbists back then brainwashed us into thinking oil is better. It's was kinda funny reading the article and noticing the survival equipment ads on the left column.

There is an oil crises?
Everyone should just stay home this summer and sit around the computer on their vacation. Put the kids in the bedroom and turn on the television so that the kids can have a proper upbringing and then mom, dad, and the grandparents can sit around and surf for porn. |

Sooner or later Americans will wise up and force our government to push for an electric economy. Bush will soon be out of office and won't be able to block the clean coal initiatives much longer.
Between nukes and clean coal we can produce plenty of electricity. It's just unfortunate that Americans are too busy worrying about issues that don't matter instead of focusing on this. |

I was watching this item on TV the other day about some Texas billionaire who wants to put in Gigawatt wind & solar farms.

I read an editorial somewhere, I wish I bookmarked it...The author's point was people are looking for the wrong solution. Instead of replacing gas with electric, or one of the other alternatives (feasible or not), the real solution is lifestyle change. And I have to agree with him. People are lazy. Instead of walking a few blocks they'll jump in a car. They will drive long distances to work instead of finding a home near where they need to be. They don't carpool when they can. They don't use public transportation. Etc. etc.
It will be great to cut the dependence on oil. But people (and it's probably the majority in the US and Canada) need to start cutting their reliance on vehicular transportation when they can. In college, on the days I'd make it to school on time in the morning (mmmm...when I got out of bed and went -- and I walked too!) I'd pass through the entrance and see people getting in an elevator to go up to the 2nd floor when all they had to do was go up a few steps. You could walk up these steps in less than 8 seconds, but I'd see these people cramming in the elevator to travel to floor 2 because they were too lazy to go up steps. The elevator is for people who can't go up steps. People need to be ready to change their lifestyle to accommodate the reality. And we need to cut our dependence on elevators. Especially elevators.

I need to save up all my porn money and buy a farm-based fortress. I do have my Mad Max fantasies occasionally
![]() We've now got an electric chopper bike which my husband uses to go shopping. http://www.choppers.byronbuzz.biz/ I'm thinking I should get an electric scooter, they're fairly cheap. SirMoby, I've seen plenty of people arguing that "clean coal" is not a viable idea. I'm all for spending that research money on solar, wind and geothermal instead.
