HDV2 editing
I currently have some HDV2 files which need to be edited and nothing I try seems to work. I have done everything from vegas to other programs to try to change it to another format. Nothing seems to be working. Does anyone have any experience editing HDV2 files and if so what do you use? (codec, apps, etc.)

I believe HDV2 format is actually an MPEG-2 file.
I use MPEG Steamclip along with the QuickTime MPEG-2 plugin to convert to MPEG-2 files to a MOV file so that it can be edited. I'm on a Mac but I think both these items are also available for Windows. |

thanks for the response. I tried streamclip and the video showed up a white box. Im pretty sure I already have that mpeg2 codec installed but still i cannot play it back in anything but any video converter. Starting to think these files can only be edited on a mac. If anyone has experienced this problem before I would appreciate your input.

You will get the white box if you do not have the mpeg-2 component of QuickTime installed. Apple charges for it so unless you have bought it you don't have it.
HDV2 is a Sony format so you may find something from Sony for your PC. |

If you have the latest version of Vegas it shouldn't be a problem or at least I've been told by others that it works.

Hello there-
I'm trying to compress a MOV HD file using avisynth but It doesn't show the video. The format is hdv2. Load_Stdcall_plugin("C:\Program Files\AviSynth 2.5\plugins\yadif\yadif.dll") QTinput("D:\Ep107-HDV 1080i60.mov",quality=100).converttoYuy2() Yadif() The video doesn't play in regukar Quicktime player but plays in SMPlayer. Am I missing a component or something? I also tried with QTReader() but with no avail.
