Anybody hear anything good or bad about the anonymiser TOR?

So, I'm browsing wierd net news and I come across news of the Silk Road.

To see it you need to use TOR.

I remember anonymisers from the old days, the cypherpunks and extropians in the pre-html internet - but haint used one in a while.

Anybody used TOR?

I dunno, I'm just an old techno-libertarian I guess, I like the idea of anonymizers, just to mess with the overlords.

wasn't sure if this was general or chitchat - I picked general because this whole thing is related to bitcoins and the future of the net.

I used it a while back - it was very slow - but I was using it through some FireFox plugin.
