PHP Gallery Pages or HTML?

All right you Yoda's...I need an answer from someone all knowing...is there any reason why gallery pages shouldn't be php? I always see galleries as html...I prefer php...is there any penalty for that? Please advise.

Thank you,

well I'm not ALL knowing but we generally like static/html pages because there's less chance of them getting changed and whatnot

edit - that's if you're talking about gallery pages on freesites, I can't speak for tgp owners.

I don't know why I even asked come to think of it...typically I'm a php include junkie...so I don't have to mess with the header, footer, and sidebars on 100 pages...but these free sites are only four...I think I can handle updating all four of the pages if there's a change. Thanks.

Some people use SSI to handle what you're talking about. You can use htaccess to enable SSI on .html pages.

One reason NOT to use PHP or SSI is the increased server load.

If you are submitting galleries to TGP's, most will not accept .php only .html
