any Advise on moving hosts
ok i just set up a account with phat servers to move my 3 traffic starved poor little domains to them LOL
anyway i know from reading other peoples troubles that you can get when doing this wrong... so how many days should i wait to tell my old host to shut them down after they are up with new host is 5 days cool ? also can they run on two hosts ? also when they are moved link admin from richards will be ordered thanks to uncle sam.. thanks |

5 days shoul dbe enough time, as most domains propagate within 24 hours, but then again, some ISP's a re lax on updating their lists, so you will find that some will hit the old server after you move.

If you have very simple sites with no scripts,
databases, etc. that should be fine. Of course you'll have to go through both password files by hand and synchronize them if they are pay sites. If you have scripts that update things on the site, such as messsage boards, personal ads or content management systems things can get a bit trickier. In many cases you may want to have a pro like myself do it for you. I have a systematic method, which includes creative manipulations of DNS records on both sides, to ensure that the transfer is seamless. |
