I live in NY & we were basically told to stay in the fucking house. The Bitch works Customer Service for a home & auto insurance company that only has customers in NY. On the weekends, one of her jobs is setting up or transferring insurance for people that are currently buying a new car. She said that on Saturdays, there's usually 100-200 of these. At 2PM yesterday, they were already over 100. I don't know what the total for the day was, but it just goes to show you that not a lot of people in NY (or the USA) are taking this seriously.

That's part of the reason why I just said FUCK THIS! yesterday, because I'm done. Done listening to the news. Done dealing with morons. Done fucking done.

I'm gonna work, watch my movies, and maybe pop my head over to the CDC website every day or so to see how many lives we lost due to being

It's funny how little things like car sales can give great insight.

First off, this is not a patriot "Canada is better than the US" post. Please don't take it that way. Whenever Canadians look at the US in numbers, we think 1/10 or 10% of ... because we are 1/10 the size of the US in population. So, I've been checking the cases numbers here and doing the math:

At the beginning, Canada actually had more cases than the US. In part this was likely due to banning flights from China and we started testing early. As this thing went on, there were a number of days where Canada was in fact 10% of the American numbers. Now that is falling (though it is leveling out). This is happening despite the fact we are testing more people per capita than the US! Today, the number is 1,328 / 26,747 or just under 5%. Canada can't pat itself on the back though. Both numbers are exploding exponentially but the USA is off the fucking charts! AND Trudeau need to tell EVERYONE non-essential to stay inside for two weeks. Doing this State by State / Province by Province isn't going to hack it.

Ignore the fact that this legend of a epidemiologist looks like Larry The Cable Guy. He makes many interesting points. What I took from it was as long as is making the decisions, the US is fucked. They need a public health expert in charge with political cred.

Good morning

3 of us had a few beers yesterday in one of the guy's garage, we sat far apart, took our own empties away and didn't go in his house ever lol. With that said I go on full lock down for 14 days today as my daughter is flying home from Los Angeles so she and us will need to self quarantine for 2 weeks.

I do have a grocery run to make mostly for my daughter's needs, otherwise I will be working all day

Yeah, I do agree with Greenie -- Canada *IS* better.

When I moved from the US over 8 years ago, I stopped with the 24/7 news thing. We don't have those kind of outlets here in Finland, nor do we need them. "I get the news I need from the weather report". Our news here is like it used to be in the States some 60 years ago - a half hour in the early evening, a half hour before bed time. Plus the morning info-tainment shows (a bit of news, a few features, maybe a bit of live music or cooking). They don't get on and speculate about shit - they don't have time to do that. Our infections are increasing quite a bit, and they are finally shutting down the ski areas in Lapland. About damned time!

As to online, I skim Reuters, and maybe CNN/Fox/MSN just to see what comedy is going to be on our nightly news. More than that, I don't need. It gets in the way of stuff that is important.

Yesterday was a hard one. One of my cousins passed away (not from corona), a dear friend lost his father (again not corona), and we lost Kenny Rogers. On the positive side though, the Husband and I got to listen to 2 live shows online (one from the dear friend who lost his dad). Musicians are hurting, but this at least lets them perform and maybe make a bit.

Ya, we are probably fucked.

Yesterday it was a glorious day, I mean one of those days we get once or twice a year where after a week of raining off and on plus some winds the air and visibility was fabulous. I know this sounds funny but those that have been here will understand. We went out for a along the coast and Catalina Island was so clear you could see details of the hills. Seriously, on a clear day it is very nice like seeing it in HD but this was like going from HD to 4K clear. Surprisingly we were not the only ones who had this idea as it was busy and the park we stopped at to walk along the cliffs was full. Every group kept safe distances but still, we are fucked.

More rain is suppose to get here today and be off and on all week again.

Going to do some work, nap and watch tv. Nothing has changed
