my new link list

having been encouraged by growing traffic & sponsor stats, I've taken some time out of building freesites to try & turn my hub into a link list...right now of course it's just my sites & sponsor stuff but I would like to take some submissions to expand it, also I need hard link & category trades...
could anyone with a minute have a look & give me some feedback?

Here's what I would do (just my opinion of course)

1. Go to any of the top LLs and copy about 30 free site listings to each of your categories (write your own descriptions)

2. Add a Linksite/Directory category

3. Submit your LL to all of the other LLs as most have a LL category with the recip as your LL category page

4. Keep posting here as wanting submits (try no recip at first)

5. Keep talking/networking to everyone here to work up a relationship for future link trades on your index and category pages.

6. Keep the new links coming in - make sure you are almost tyrannical about what you will accept as quality goes a long way towards future bookmarking

7. Make the "bookmark this page" and "tell your friends" very prominent on each page

8. write your URL on every dollar bill you use

9. Change the homepage on every computer in every store you go to to your LL

(Those last two are old Tommys-Bookmarks hints)

10. Work it over and over - making sure that every free site you continue to make has a text link/recip back to your LL

Thanks for the great advice, I hadn't thought of grabbing links -I will definitely do that. I am always on this board lurking & learning, I will try to post more often but it's hard as a newbie I'm a bit

lol, ya know...

this whole process has taken me away from freesite building for a few days, so I want to get back to that for a bit. I just wanted to get the site up and running, I will fine tune it as I go.

again - thanks, one of the things I love about this board is the support & advice by those of you who have been around & successful, it really helps!

I am planning to start my ownlinlist in near future myself. Unfortunatelly I dont live in US, and writing urls on polish notes would just bring me a bunch of freeloders

What do you think about buying bulk traffic for your ll to make a better start ( get some bookmarkers when I dont have almost any traffic ) ?

Would it better be to buy low quality traffic ( something like 70 000 hits for 100$ ) or should I buy better traffic ( sex.com ppc )?

not too sure if it was a joke or not, but i'm kinda curious about the dollar bills approach. I could see how it could get tons and tons of eyes on your site, but couldn't it get in the hands of the wrong people (like kids), which would probably bring some bad attention towards you?

yeah i do agree to some extent.... but its really unlikely for a kid to save that $1 bill, log onto the internet and take a look at the site.

Okie let me throw in a different approach, how about $20 bills? I dont know any kid who gets $20 bills as pocket money everyday...

dirty - the traffic would be much cheaper from the bulk traffickers - however the bookmark rate Ive seen from them is around 1% - the ppc is usually minimum $0.05 per click and thats really high if you are just looking for bookmarkers - its an ok price if you have something that sells to 1:50 surfers - but you're not gonna get that on a LL

the dollar bills was kinda a combo joke and something that I know a very famous LL WM did (or may still do) - Im not real sure that anyone could ever prove that a specific person was defacing federal tender

- as far as the under age people getting to the site - I guarantee they will get there anyway and that is why we put up warnings - but that wont stop the ones that would look at the stuff anyway - parental control is the only answer to that and Im not gonna get swayed into ethical questions LOL

LL suck for about 6 or 7 months and a thorn in your side and then you think you gonna make a few bucks and then the well runs dry.. make sure you have enough free sites behind you because its very easy to NOT build anything while working on your LL..

Like reviewing and learning how to read and understand the whois info.. How to catch the cheaters, remembering the pay hosts vs. the free ones, adding pay links once in awhile and it takes time joining the sponsors and writing a good description, promoting your LL on a webmaster board, chasing down link trades and adding them, you can spend a good amount of time adding cat trades to 30 40 50 pages.. And now a day can easily pass and no free sites are built.. So you do it very part time Now and now submitts sit in your admin and free site builders very well will quit subbing to you and that can be a death of progress to a LL and you will soon learn what food a LL wants on a regular basis to drive towards a LL that can make some cash..

It sounds like you speak from experience!

but I can see that what you say is true...I was going pretty steady with the free sites for a while & now I feel like I have to get back to that, I am not going to have a huge amount of time to devote to a LL. You would suggest, then, to keep it as my own hub for now & not open it up until I can make it more of a priority? I think that's probably the best, I wouldn't want to do anything that is gonna hurt me in the long run.

I guess I'll just have to keep tryin to get that SE traffic & keep links on my freesites to get the surfers there.

I'm glad I posted here, I do tend to jump in with both feet, sometimes not lookin what I'm going to land in

I hope that I can build up enough of a rapport/reputation with those around so that when I am ready to plunge into the LL arena I will have lots of support!
