Q re sponsor payouts
I guess this is a newbie question...
I see lots of sponsors who say they pay $xx for trial signups - does this mean you only get credit for the trial and not if the surfer chooses a monthly? I've been reading TOSs till my mind is mush, -some of them only say payouts for trial but don't mention regular monthly, and I've been assuming that is what it means. does that sound right? thanks Ponygirl |

If the surfer signs up for a trial, you get paid for the trial. If the surfer signs up for monthly recurring, you get paid for that. If the surfer signs up for a trial, then later upgrades to a full monthly membership, you probably only ever get paid for the trial, but I may be wrong.
I avoid trials. I'd rather risk the little payout in hopes of the larger one.

Most pay you for any initial sign up with they are paying per sign up, so you'd get $xx for the trial or the monthly.

The way they advertise this stuff to webmasters can be a little whacked. In a lot of cases what they mean is "You get paid $30 for a trial signup even if the surfer never converts to a recurring membership," at least as far as the programs I promote.

Well, it's healthy to be a little bit paranoid. Remember that it's just like any other business relationship...sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, and once in a while there's someone hiding in the bushes waiting to stab you in the back. No more or less likely than in mainstream business, but I've gotten my share of screwjobs in mainstream as well.
