Thinking I'm going to dumb the site

Well I think I'm throwing in the towel. Well not for long but just to start over. I have not told the wife yet but have been sitting here and thinking im stuck in the catch 22. As most of you know I started this thing thinking I had the know how but soon learned very fast that there was so much more I needed to learn. Thank you to everyone on this board for teaching me many things. I think at this time I'm going to take it offline and do some other things. Re design my plan of attack. Most likly in the next few months I will get a new domain name as jollycams is I'm sure known by the cam girls now as not a good place to work. So a new domain name will surly be in order. I figure Ill post this here for others who might think that opening a cam site is a great thing, well it can be but you need to know so much before doing so. Shoot me a PM if you are thinking of opening one and want some advice. Maybe my pitfalls can help you. My problem was not having traffic to start. I got the girls but had none, now I have it and the girls I got wont work. So I went and got new girls but now the software I'm using gives free access to the video and the viewer does not have to log on the chat. My logs show people sitting on the fre vid page and never logging into the chat. So the models still think the site has no traffic and rightfully so cause no one in chat means no one on the site for them. So it's time this week to break the news to the wife and start again. I'm not leaving this board tho. What this has done is pissed me off so much that now I'm dead set on beating it. Jugg.....

Sure does. I think its going to be more painful to tell the wife. She does not really know the tech side of it, even tho she understands its not easy she still thinks we can pull this off. Me? I see it differantly, I know when to stop wasting my time. She keeps saying it will take a few years, and even tho I agree with her I think I made some mistakes along the way that can not fix this. So now its on to name boy to secure a few new domains, wait for my programmer to get our software completed (even if the 2257 thing falls threw he is going to make it so the software is compliant to those specs anyway) And roll with the punches. What does not kill me only gives me a headache lol.

I agree Jim, Heres my problem. 1st I only have 10 license's for hosts. Unfortunally I did not find out till after I bought firecracker that I could have bought another java based cam package for 2/3rds the cost. I looked around for a whole year for software and then some Russian guy decides to come out with his package just after I bought mine and I could have gotten his for 3k unlimited. So now Im stuck with looking for 10 hosts who will at the very least just stay online. So being my wife does this we have a little bit of an edge in that we understand what a host would want $$$. So my first two months I get 10 hosts and tell them Ill give them $200 per pay period $400 a month just to stay online with a schedule, we tell them they have to remain online for 3 days a week (they chose when) at least 3 hours for those days but the hours must be from 9pm to 12am EST and 1 weekend night for 4 hours fri or sat their choice. So if they do this it's basicly $100 a week easy money. All we wanted was them to log on the software and show online. So first month all goes cool. The girls get paid and after that they never log on again. Then my traffic starts building, not much only like 1k a day but most of the visits are at night anyway so I still have a chance. But no matter what I do this girls will not stay online. So I go and get new hosts, explain its a new site and might not get alot of shows, they say ok no problem they will stay online. They sign up and never log on again. I get 1 guy who is working with me to have his wife stay online and this guy is cool his wife is staying online at least 3 nights a week. Now I start looking deeper into whats up with no one buying shows. They are buying them for my wife but she knows what she is doing and she is getting some of her whales to buy from the site. So I see these people are sitting outside the free area and not going into chat. I am watching them sit there. So I figure ok let me look over the chat software and see if I an have my programmer make it so they dont have to enter a username for the chat. Ie they go to free vid and get right into the chat as guest1 guest2 etc. He decompiles the thing and finds out NO WAY can be done. It will fuck up the hasp key if he screws with it cause it's connected to the DB which is also connected to the hasp. But he tells me he can remove it completly and just put in a simple java chat, but now heres the bad part on that. No logging the chats, and no restricting chat words like "yahoo or western union" which is a major problem with cam sites. Also no way for the hosts to bann a shit head or anything. So Im sitting here and cant see a way around this. I cant force these guys in chat so what do I do? I run some numbers the other night to get a rough idea of the traffic live jasmin is getting cause they have the same software package. These guys have to be getting a huge amount of visits a day in order to get these guys in chat. Plus they are unlimited so for them they could care less if a host logs on or not cause they have the licenseing to let her profile just sit there. The more I look at it, the more I think this is going to be a major problem to resolve. I'm not a quiter, Im not someone who will work on something if I dont see any possible good outcome for this even if it would take years. I have worked on project with the military that seemed impossible but never stopped till they were completed. I ended up having the bulldog rep and the go to guy on the impossible shit. This is even harder then anything I worked on with them. I'm open for suggestions. I know this could take years. Like I said when I first got here, I dont know much but i know I'm in this for the long haul. Just think it might be time to regroup. So this weekend I have a person place a poll up for me on a forum about cam site, she asks the hosts what they would want to stay on a new site. So far only 3 respond and they want the bonus of the $100 per week. But I sit back and say well we have done that an they still did not stay online. My wife being from RO we know that $100 a week to a host from EU is allot of money, but hell man if they are still not going to stay then I don't know what to do. I will leave the site up, but I'm not going to push it like I was. I really do feel that new software and a new approch is the best move for now. Don't know what else to do. I can't do upsales, I can't have an afil program (well I can but cant payout like the big boys) and I can't offer these girls anymore then I already have. Besides most of them feel they are being ripped off. They think if you open a cam site your rich and taking advantage of them, lol. Im at a wall on this one that I cant figure out how to climb.

The live cam business is a very hard one these days, we spent over $17k for the firecracker licence and decided to go a different route, and I’d be happy to sell/transfer it to someone for a fraction of that, since that’s really what it’s worth!
