Yeah, good article. I try to work in a few of those on my gallery text. Can't really say I've noticed any difference although it makes sense to give it a try. |viking|

Great read, thanks! I tried to use a couple of those words a little while ago in my descriptions but it's still not enough time passed to tell the difference.

I think it also depends on how you use them or word the text. I think many folks dont stop to think, we are just marketers. There are also tons of books out there to help in selling. Even the old ones still apply.

I've seen a similar list and there are a few from that one that I use all of the time that aren't on the list above...

all these words are overused. you see them everywhere you go, most ads contain them... It's not that easy to use these words correctly nowadays. I don't think you'll see any significant effect.

I do think the marketing message behind particular these words remains relevant:
1. Talk directly to your customer
2. Make their life easy, save them money, save them time.
3. Be reassuring

Do you think that everyone uses them because they don't work? People spend most of the day on autopilot and Americans have been trained to use credit cards.

There's a documentary shown on one of the Discovery channels every now and then called "Gadgetmania".

It starts out with the "board walk hawkers" of the days before television, then centers in on K-Tel, Ron Popeil, Ginzu Knife, etc, up to informercials and Ron's rotisserie machine.

I use to laugh at those guys. Then I found out how much money they made. Any of us here would die to have 1/100th of what they make.

Point is, they use those words. They did in the 40s on the boardwalks; they do now; and they still work.

Popeil's "set it and forget it" phrase is just a 21st century way of saying "easy". He's sold over 10 million of those rotisseries so far. Imagine if he only netted a single dollar off of each sale! And I'm sure it's a lot more than that he's pocketed.
