Where would this site fit in?

OK, I just finished a new site, Erotica Story and am scratching my head wondering where it would fit in for link lists and directories. |confused| The obvious one is "For Women" categories, but I am aiming for a little bit more (hence the couples and men pages). LL owners, would you list it? Where would you list it? I haven't done the LL thing in a few years...

Okay, here goes... I have done the story thing for almost 10 years now, so I can give you a couple of hints:

First off, I think you are trying to do a story site with the stories aimed for "women readers" instead of standard whacking stories. Fine. No problem Good idea. Nice goal.

However, link lists these days permit only 3 link offs to sponsors per page, and require a clear enter link into the main site. I spent a good amount of time on your page before I could figure out what the entrance link was (I mistakenly clicked 2 others).

So right away, you are in the ditch.

Your main story page is worse, as most of your stories are hosted on other domains. All content must be on your domain.

The 3 x 3 money bar of story sites on the bottom of the page is a big no-no... that brings your link up count up to 13 (ignoring stories) on each page. Not going to work.

The colors of the site make it almost impossible to see anything. bright white and pink background with thin black text and pinkish red links just isn't working. Please read up on contrasting and complimentary colors to understand what needs to happen here.

It is pretty much as unlistable as possible as it sits right now.

Oh dear..."unreadable"?? EEK! Could I trouble you for a screenshot and browser/screen res specs? I try to design for total readability (it's a pet peeve of mine).

Here you go...

I think the issue has to do with the background image. Drop that, and I would at least be able to see the site. There is pink and grey and other colors in there that make it very hard to read the text and links... especially because the font is a very narrow font with little definition of it's own.

Colors are not the big issue though... the overall design just won't fly in the link list world.

OK, I see the readability issue...what do you have, a 52" monitor? LOL I'll set a limit on table width and that should help. I also made the headlines link to the pages and took off the absolute values for font size.

OK, It's probably obvious I didn't design this with the LLs in mind. Actually, I didn't design it with anything in mind; I just created a site that I would like. (bad me...LOL) I posted it up to see if it was listable, since I honestly am not sure where it fits into the porn world.

Ahh! I see part of the problem: i think your default font size or text size is larger than normal. You should always define ALL fonts, specify exact sizes on them, as well as tables and such. Percentage size tables can get you in big trouble now that there is a large spread between smallest and biggest. Make the tables the right size to fit your screen, and they won't look terrible on mine.

My screen size is 20" - 1600 X 1200.

1600x1200?? Wow, huge size difference...I am running 800x600. I didn't even realize they had that big a screen res. If I could bother you to look at it again, and tell me if it's a little better. I appreciate this heads-up, since I am not the most techie-savvy WM out there.

The size of the table is better, but the font is too small and narrow. I think there is an issue where your style isn't being properly read for the body text. Potentially your default text size on your browser is bigger than normal, so you are not seeing the effect.

I checked in both firefox and IE.

ugh, trying to fiddle with font sizes, it is looking horrible for me

I have no idea why this stupid puter is displaying text larger than normal, as I didn't change the settings, it just one day decided to do it. This is frustrating.

I don't know the AOL browser very well, but you would be looking for something like "font size" or "text size" on one of the menus... you need to get that set back to normal, it will make things look like they do for almost everyone else and let you work on your sites properly.

Have you considered dumping that browser and getting something else?

It's done this before, but went back to normal on its own. I have no fucking clue why or how. The housemate vehemently denies messing with the settings also, although personally I wouldn't put it past him in the practical joke realm. Right now I'm seriously considering the "BFH" fix for it...while using just about every vulgar word and phrase I've learned in the factories and army...in 2 different languages.

(B stands for Big and H stands for Hammer...F stands for figure it out!)
