Advice needed on domain registration

I used to register my domain names with hosting companies, when I bought hosting. Now I'm facing a problem that one of my hosting providers has been cheating and looks like it disappeared forever. All the webmasters that had their sites hosted with that hosting company have moved to some other hosts. I can't! My domain is registered to the name of the hosting company. I've lost my 6 months old PR3 domain.

So now I'm planning to register a bunch of new domains. Before I do it, I definitely need advise on where to do it. Which registrar will you suggest? If you know, tell me the price range. Just wanna know everything.

P.S.: SkilledHost.com are cheaters

That's old news. There are several threads about skilledhost cheating webmasters. You can probably use most any other registrar but GoDaddy and be safe

I use Domain Discover for most of my stuff it's medium priced and as secure as they get, with tons of bells and whistles (which I never use) I like to be able to make bulk changes to my domains.

I found that Yahoo registers domains at $2.99 per year. Is this offer worth consideration?

Will I be able to use their domains with any hosting providers other than Yahoo? I just don't understand all the procedure.

I've never used Yahoo as a registrar so I have no idea. I don't think they will cheat you.

Make sure you complain to Internic by fax and by using their online form. Tell anybody else you can find to do the same. Get their ass BANNED!

I bought a few Yahoo domains, and so far, no problems. 1. Go to Yahoo domain account control panel 2. temporarily unlock your domain 3. Change your DNS server to your host and you should be all set.

Yeah, Mattinblack! I'll do my very best to see those guys banned for good and everywhere!

Thanks, Halfdeck, about the info on Yahoo domains.
BTW, I figured out that this month they sell domain names at a discount price of $3 only. But you can buy only 1 at a discount price.

Why do you think so?

I moved all my domains (almost 80 now) to registerfly.com from directnic.com almost 2 years ago ... and had no problems at all. Support is ok, prices are ok (they have special prices and other discounts every 10-14 days).

I really can say I'm a happy registerfly.com user ... and with 80 domains (8$/a year each) it is (comparing to directnic.com's 15$/domain) 560$ save every year
