How about that 30 GB iPod?

I'm looking into buying a 30 GB iPod. From what I've read everything sounds cool etc.
But since I don't know anyone who has an iPod (yes we are a little bit retarded over here when it comes to technology) I figured some of you guys could help me out.
The cheapest one I've found is going to cost me 345 Euros (434 USD) which is more than enough IMO.
So if an average .acc song is about 5MB the iPod should be able to store about 6000 songs, or am I wrong here?

If you have anything negative to say about it please don't hold back.

I've had one for a while now and love it. You can't run with it, but I don't do that anyway.
I got so I can hook it up to the carstereo too. So no matter where I am, I have my music and podcasts with me. Love it.
The one thing that made it even better, was to buy new earplugs. I got a pair that Cleo recommended, Koss - The Plug. Much better than the ones that comes with it.

I give it

Cleo would be the one to ask

I have an old 15 GB that ARS gave away 2 years ago & I think it holds roughly 3000 songs.

Do you really need all that space in your Ipod? I have Ipod nano with 1Gb memory (149 euro), and it's enough, as long as I can keep all the staff on my PC, and every time I want to put new things and cancel other, updating takes just few seconds!

One thing to do with the larger HD on some iPods is to load a bootable copy of your system software. Nice to be able to startup your (or another) computer from it in case of problems, particularly if you're using a notebook computer and you're not near home.

How much storage you need on your iPod would depend on what you want to use it for. And like everything else, leave room for the things you're not thinking of yet.

The Apple Store shows the 30 GB model at $299 US and says it will hold 7,500 songs.

eBay has some 30 GB models for 'buy it now' prices of $289 US.

Geez Fronz I would have sent you mine! I had the Apple Simon linked to and gave it away. I have a great speaker set on my pc, that's where I blast my music everyday. Yes I'll admit it I couldn't figure out the ipod so got rid of it..

I have a bunch of software here also if anyone is looking for anything let me know I might have it

Damn you Sue!

Thanx for the replies so far.
It seems I can only buy from the Apple Belgium store if I want to have it delivered in Belgium. Price Eur 329,00/USD 414,00 which is a $115 difference with the standard Apple store
Any chance of me ordering it on one of you guy's address and you sending the package to me?

Swedguy, I need other earplugs too since those standard ones won't fit my ears.
Lera, I like my iPods like my ego, way too big

If you do ship it that way, include a note with it that says,

Fonz, it was great seeing you again, you left this at the hotel!

And then maybe, you won't need to pay VAT on it as it goes through customs.

I have a really old 40 gig iPod plus a 4 gig Nano iPod.

The 40 gig one holds all my 2979 tracks with lots of room left over which is nice since I also use the iPod as a removable hard drive to shuffle files around like if I'm over at Angel's place and need to grab a movie off of her computer or something. I've had to replace the battery some time ago in this iPod but that was no big deal. This iPod is just left in my car hooked up to my car's Alpine stereo system.

Early this year I also got the 4 gig ipod Nano which I really love. You can set iTunes to only sync some tracks so I have it set to sync all my workout tracks, mellow for at the beach tracks, and a few other tracks. The main reason I like the Nano so much is that it is so small and light that I wear it around my neck using the In-Ear Lanyard Headphones.

Thanx for the offer Simon but I justrealised that we are on a 240V net and you guys are on 110V so the charger won't last that long I guess
Assuming there is a charger ofcourse.

I'll just build some more freesites and promote FetishClub a little more

The iPod charges from your computer's USB or Firewire port depending on the model so no charger is needed.

They are really easy to use. Just plug the iPod into your computer and iTune's playlists are synced with the iPod while it also charges it.

More info on iPods
http://www.apple.com/ipod/

If you get one of these you can also stream itunes to your home music system.
