Putting Freesites on domain roots?

I have a bunch of domains that I'm not doing anything with and probably won't for a long time. Some I redirect to some of my hubs and some I've thrown a few hosted banners up on and some text. Does anyone put freesites on their extra domains? It makes sense to me to kill two birds with one stone...

jonnydoe,
I'm experimenting with that right now. It's still to early to tell but I did have a #1 on google with a free site til this last update. Currently I've been bouncing between #1 and #6 for a fairly easy term to get good rankings with. I'll try and remember to update you when the dust settles this time around.

You might want to play with that idea and see what you can do with it. Use some domains roots for free sites (you can always put a hub on a sitemap type of page) and some use for hub pages, etc.

Putting freesites on my under developed domains is standard practice for me.

I was always a fan of putting a small hub page on the root of my free site domains - mostly just links to the free sites that are on the domain as well as some ads & links to other free sites/domains.

Just my 2 cents, but i'd hub the roots. It doesn't take much work to build a quick hub, as it can be anything really. What if you build a freesite, get it listed at LL's and then want to develop the domain later? You didn't mention if you planned on submitting them to LL's...

if i was LL owner i would not like people submitting roots. Like Lowry said- what if you decide to develop that domain some day, or sell it.

I was planning on submitting them to LLs... Should be good for SEO in both directions I would think. What seemed really clear I am a bit puzzled with now. If someone wanted to pay me a gob of money for one of the domains I could always email the LLs to let them know to either take it down or that I have set up a duplicate on another domain couldn't I?

Another thought... I could put the freesite on the root with no recip table and then go up a level for the LL submissions. Then I could change it to a hub or whatever at anytime with no real issues...

If you are going to build a freesite on the root without recips, why wouldn't you just put a hub there instead of creating more work for yourself down the road? Also, some worry about a duplicate content filter, and then again some don't(meaning if you put up a recip free freesite on the root, then move it to a subfolder later, will it do as well?). I imagine some would say it won't matter, but some would advise against that. I have took down freesites before that were doing pretty well, and placed a copy on another domain and they never did shit. Of course your results may vary.

You could put a hub up quicker than a brand new freesite. Atleast it takes me longer to develop a new freesite from scratch than a hub does. But that is just me.

Again, this is just my opinion, either way you go will be ok.
