Thumbs down Australian Firewall to censor games

And we all knew that once they started, they would keep extending it to anything they don't like. And who gets to decide what should be banned?

The Great Australian Firewall will try blocking websites that host or sell video games not suitable for children under the age of 15.

A spokesman for Senator for Victoria Stephen Conroy told The Age on Thursday that the government's internet censorship regime will extend to downloadable and web-based games that don't meet Australia's MA15+ rating standard

You know on one hand you can see his point, trying to block crap children of that age should not see online. And i am by far, not a fan of Senator for Victoria Stephen Conroy and or his Labor party mates.

Yes you are right, who gets to decide where the line is draw in the sand.

So why don't the parents take a bit of responsibility for their children and install a filter on their computer, not at the ISP. Common sense prevail, most adults by now would have an idea of the dangers that are online. One would not let one's kid play with a snake, so why let them go online with out some sort of protection.

Whinge, whinge and complain that's all the wowsers want to do, instead of taking a bit of responsibility for the protection themselves. Unbelievable.

You know that the Chinese system similar to this was hacked by a 13 year old kid? I'm sure people will find a way around it. It's just sad that people have to sensor the internet.

Oh well.
