Newbie here with some questions

First off I would like to say hello to everyone

I dabbled in this industry a looong looong time ago, from 1996 to 98 to be a bit more specific.

Myself and a couple of friends put together our own paysite "stripperfetish.com" and did ok as far as extra money was concerned back then. But that site and the industry as a whole as it was back then is long gone it seems.

Back then we were on dial up and mass posting to newsgroups to get most of our traffic, I can see that a LOT has changed.

Ok on to my questions,

1. From what I have been reading over the past few weeks the niche market has become king, the narrower / more obscure the focus the better, am I correct in assuming this from what I have been reading?

2. Thumbnail Galleries and Free Sites are still a viable way to earn, though from what I've been reading this income seems to want to cap out at around $5k per month no matter how good you are or how long you've been doing it, one of the main reasons if I am understanding this correctly is that there is a limit to how many TGP's and Free Sites you can submit on a daily basis thus limiting the amount of traffic you can achieve, I'm assuming I'm understanding this correctly?

3. Blogs are a little confusing to me, they almost seem like Free Sites that aren't fire and forget with SEO. Is this belief correct?

4. In order to make any substantial amount of money you need to build and submit your daily limit of TGP's and Free Sites, every day 7 days a week, conceivably forever.

5. I don't understand the reasoning behind the "tube" sites, could anyone explain to me why people are putting them up in such vast numbers? It seems illogical to give away for free what you are hoping to sell, or am I missing something here?

6. As far as domain names are concerned with TGP and Free Site submitting for sponsor programs your name means very little, IE it could be mickymouse.com for all intents and purposes but for Blogs the name means much more since it's a "mini site" designed specifically for SEO. Am I correct here?

The only thing that hasn't changed it seems is that traffic is still king and probably always will be.

I understand I blew it by not hanging around but then again hindsight is 20/20 after all , I also wish I had purchased stock in Google, but then I'm sure we all do lol.

I also have no misconceptions of become super rich and I'm well aware it will take month's to begin generating any income at all however large or small it may be.

Any suggestions, tips, encouraging words, or warnings are greatly appreciated

here are a few answers for you..
Q1: yes, but not obscure..focused and playing into thier fantasies
Q2: no, there is a daily limit, but many places allow more submissions from paid and regular submitors...and the amount you can make is still the skys the limit, except nowadays it's usually fog in this economy
Q3: no, completely different animal and mainly texted based...read some more and check out some over at link-o-rama to get a feel of what they can be.
Q4: that is one way, there are many others...which most of which are closely guarded secrets, so start with those...and yes it takes daily building and submitting to build up regular traffic and submit everything to the SEs as well
Q5: you got it right, giving away the milk and so very few buy the cow..idiots for the most part in my opinion..make the surfer buy..
Q6: nope it can be anything.com and be good for everything..but niched named domains can be helpful for SE traffic(search engines) so most tend to go that way..

and NO, traffic has never been king...it's a queen...making and being able to make the sell has always been king..and still is..

rock out, and start building free sites and tgping in various niches and find the top three you make sales with...then go to town on them and repeat repeat repeat!
