We survived the first act of the Sauna Stove Circus. Naturally, they did not finish. I was stunned when the two doddering elderlies were still here watching TV at 10:30 pm. Long past their bedtime!! I was a bit upset with the Husband for not driving them home, but, then it all seems to have worked out. They did make it home safely. We are supposed to do the second act today but that is up in the air right now. This is the one where 3 grown adults and one light stand huddle in a tiny 3foot by 6foot space so that one can try to finalize the connection of the stove to the chimney. Will the spectators sit up on the benches to watch safely? Hmmm. Logical, but probably not. She loves to be able to get up close and personal so I don't see it as an option. They seem to specialize in standing exactly where you are trying to go. They don't do anything except imitate mannequins, but they do it so very well. We shall see what happens here. They derailed me completely yesterday.

Good Morning
![]() We have a hurricane coming up from Mexico that will, thankfully, turn into a tropical depression when it hits SoCal. Something we hadn't had in 90 years or something. Expecting to receive 2 inches of rain in 24 hours starting Sunday which is A LOT for us. So now I have to go out and prep for this. Oh the F'ing Joy ![]() Besides that it's going to be the typical grunt work on heat and ice as I know the above is going to cause my body to have pains. Enjoy your Friday! |

Yeah, for those that don't know the Los Angeles area, it is essentially a desert. I think average rainfall is about 14 inches of rain (downtown) and most of that falls between November and April. So, this is not exactly seasonal. We used to joke that with just 3 drops of rain, you start having traffic accidents because everyone stops and stares. It really doesn't rain that often in LA. I have seen serious street flooding with only about a quarter of an inch of rain. The storm drains get so clogged with trash that they don't have much room for water. 2 inches in 24 hours? Jeeze. Break out the boats. Smart ones will get all their shopping done by Sunday afternoon and then hunker down. My mom is not that far away from JR, so I hope y'all ride through this one safely. She's no longer driving, so that is one blessing.
The Husband just came in and said he has the stones on the new stove and is now lighting the test fire. He decided today to forego the circus and get it finished on his own. His parents will come over tomorrow for a sauna party. At least the house is all clean. ![]() Now, this is the stove before he added the stones. You can tell how small that working area is. Cross your fingers he doesn't burn the house down.
