Image Resizer

Does anyone know of a bulk image resizer?

Or is there something on photoshop that I'm missing?

I have about 5000 images to resize and really don't have the time to do it all by hand.

Any help would be appreciated.

ThumbPlus batchfile is great for that.

Say you have a mix of pics of various proportions.

You can resize them by percentage.

You can also resize them within a box.

So, you specify 800x800 w. keep proportion.

That will generate an image of 800 x 800 with side or top borders, depending on original proportions.

If you select the autocrop option, it will remove those borders and you'll end up with a pic of 800px long-side, no matter the proportion.

That's cool.

What I do to extract the utmost in quality/compression ratio is the following:

When I resize with ThumbPlus, I have the resized pics saved in PNG format (lossless).

Then, I run a automated action in Photoshop to convert them to jpg, because it saves with a higher quality/compression than in thumbplus.

I'm using ThumbPlus v. 4.5 R2 build 2041 from June 12 2001. Not exactly the latest version, but it works very well. I also use it for color correction. It is much faster, lighter, easy to handle program than Photoshop 6.

PS does it easy.

Pull up an image, start a new action call it "Resize", usually the window on your right hand side or get it from the menu under "Windows".

Then resize the image you have to the size you want. Close the action. Close the image without saving or altering it.

From the menu select "file" "automate" "batch" Select the new action "Resize", select the file you want resized, select under "Destination" "Save and Close"

Hit OK.

Good idea is to make a duplicate of the original content file in case of mistakes.

Like said already, any thumb maker will do it. That's all I do, takes seconds.

I'm fairly sure somebody posted that tool here a while ago but this is what I've been using for awhile.

http://www.imagemagick.org/

It can do batch resize through command-line, free, cross-platform and very scriptable through the API.

Entreri.

You can make droplets in Photoshop and then just drop your images on them. Actually ImageReady also makes droplets and I find them easier to work with and make then then ones from Photoshop. Photoshop also has a "Make Web Gallery" that will place the full size images on html. THis is good for doing galleries for member's areas in paysites.

I use iwatermark mostly to batch copyright my images but you can also have it resize your images at the same time.

Thanx very much guys. you have all been a great help.

I managed to find another one that I have found quite simple. So in case anyone else is reading this and looking for another one here it is.
It works well and took me seconds to resize all my images.
