The Freesite Mystery

Hi All,

This seems like the best board to be asking a freesite question, so here I go. There are probably 100 link lists out there worth submitting to if the process can be expedited. I believe I've figured out a way to do that, so that's a problem solved. The real problem is figuring out recip placement that will get me listed.

I understand that most linklist owners want their recip to be on the index page, that makes sense. How then to solve this problem without designing 10 different freesites to get all 100 recips on the pages.

Is it possible to build one freesite, then basically duplicate it in 10 different directories. For example:

www.mydomain.com/freesite/
www.mydomain.com/freesite1/
www.mydomain.com/freesite2/
www.mydomain.com/freesite3/

etc, etc, etc.

Will this get me listed, or will I only be accepted at the sites that have their recips on freesite. Am I better off going with something like this:

www.mydomain.com/freesite/
www.mydomain.com/free-site/
www.mydomain.com/freesites/
www.mydomain.com/free-sites/

So it's not quite as obvious that it's the same site simply duplicated in another folder?

One other question. I've been putting 9 recips on my warning pages. Is this too many, or is this just right?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Brett

If you were to submit to me I would take into account who else was on the page.

Something else to consider ...

Your best bet is to replicate your warning page several times and have only 3-4 recips on each page.

When grouping the recips, group them according to the amount of traffic sent.

Put your biggest traffic senders together, then go down from there.

Do you replicate the warning page in different directories, or rename the warning page.

IMO 3-4 per page is not enuff... and creates extra superfluous doorways.

I would aim for 8 min and maybe 12 at themax

Dave,

You run a linklist so maybe you can answer the question best. If I created a site and duplicated it in 8 different directories, is that the best way to be able to submit to a bunch of different link lists with the same site?

bobchezule,

... I am actually not the one to ask....

I dont believe in doorways/mirrored entrances for free sites...

IMO you should have one page as entrance to your site only - an index page with 6-12 recips.

What do you think of using subdomains instead of directories?

No - and you will find that many LL's have already banned subdomains.. and I would imagine more will doing that shortly too

That would probably be the best thing to do IMO but make sure you have all the HTML files in the same directory.

so

www.yoursite.com/dir1/index.html
links to
www.yoursite.com/dir1/main.html

and

www.yoursite.com/dir2/index.html
links to
www.yoursite.com/dir2/main.html

so don't do this:

www.yoursite.com/dir2/index.html
links to
www.yoursite.com/dir1/main.html

most LL owners don't like that
